This is really easy.
This I'll bet is largely to do with the foods you are eating, which are making you drowsy.
Namely, overly fatty, refined, or processed foods. Namely, meat, dairy, refined grains, refined oils and refined sugar.
I base my diet on whole foods plant based.
I might have something like brown rice, vegetables and falafels for dinner, with hummous to make it a bit more interesting. Cook the food yourself where you can. And don't use too much fat, oil or salt.
I ate for lunch today all the beige food, as it was a retirement gathering. Was drowsy for the rest of the afternoon.00 Reply

+1 yAs a matter of fact yes I do. It's called metabolic syndrome. Look up ways to sleep better. Eat less sugar/carbs and processed shit food.

This happens with almost everybody you are suffering from insomnia. The cause for this is as soon as food reaches our stomach, the stomach starts to digest it for which it needs a lot of strength. In order to provide strength to the stomach blood starts to flow from the brain to the stomach throgh the veins and nerves. When brain is depleted od the blood it switches itself to standby mode which causes sleep. It is advisable to take a little nap after meals to let the stomach do it's job and also to let the brain rest. Also instead of taking two full meals in a day break it up into four smaller meals.

+1 yso you got the itis? try eating smaller meals and are ones that are not high in fat content. That should do the trick as that is what is most likely promoting the lethargic feelings after the meal. This is not good to give into as sleeping right after a meal promotes acid reflux which is hard to kick once you have it and wreaks havoc on one's digestive system.

+1 yI am not sure the cause, but recently found that the sooner I get in all my meals for the day, the sooner I fall asleep at night after the last meal, waking earlier the next day. As for the naps, maybe it's the body's way of resting the rest of the body in order to have enough energy to digest the food?
Also something that may help to alleviate you and your son's issue is to go on a 'digestive walk'. I've found that when I take a light 10-15 minute walk right after eating, I feel less sluggish afterwards, and I'm then more productive. Maybe give it a shot? You won't always feel like walking after eating, but it's really been helping me, so it might be worth it. Hopefully it will help you too. Best of luck!10 ReplyIt comes with being human, everyone is like it. Your body is resting to process the food you ingested. Its like why people often joke at Christmas that everyone naps after Christmas dinner. The more you eat the more lethargic you will be, the best solution is smaller meals

+1 yIt could be that your glucose spiked and caused you to fall asleep
this is common to happen whether your a diabetic or not a diabetic
so you don't have to be a diabetic for this to happen to you and your son
the same thing happens to me in the evening.10 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic.
+1 yIt never happens to me unless I'm already very tired, to begin with like, last night, I finished eating and, because, by then, I'd already been up at least 24 hours, I zonked out in the chair for a short while. But it's caused by some chemical thing either in you or the food you eat. Most often, it happens after eating turkey, like, for Thanksgiving.

+1 yFood doesn't give me energy like it does for other people I know. Eating makes me tired. This is why I don't eat breakfast or lunch. I only have a good dinner at night

@Sparkie460 I am the same way. It doesn't matter what I eat, nothing gives me energy. It is so darn disappointing isn't it. Didn't you say that you had the COVID-19 virus? I might be thinking of someone else? After I had my 2nd vaccine, I became very ill for a week. I never got my energy back after that, as well as feeling sick each day. I wish I had known what was going to happen to me because I would have never taken that vaccine!!!

I've never had covid. I've been this way since I hit 30 years old. Before that I used to get headaches if I didn't eat for a while
+1 yHappens to all of us in our house if we go with large portions without a lot of fresh fruits. Things go pretty well if we graze lightly and make sure raw fruit and vegetables are eaten
10 ReplyIt happens with me too. I try to fight it a lot but then start feeling dizzy and ultimately fall asleep. And mostly in the afternoon , never in the night. That's an issue.
10 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. My wife often gets tired after a meal. I don't.
I never take naps. When I do, I fall into deep sleep and have as hard of a time waking up as I do in the morning, which is traumatic enough. LOL10 Reply
+1 yYes.. that’s why I have to eat super lightly during the day b side I get so tired after eating a heavy meal..

There’s a lot of reasons why though.. I just never went to the doctor because I’m fine as long as I eat super light.

+1 yYeah full stomach causes it and per haps the age as the digestion becomes slower and slower it takes out energy from you
10 ReplyNo. Probably because what I eat doesn't make me tired, makes me feel... like I ate something. Either way, unless I'm like feeling sick or I really fked up my sleep schedule, I'm moving and keepin' busy until bed time.
00 Reply4.9K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Sometimes I fall asleep on the couch after I eat supper.
10 Reply436 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. This happens to me when what I've ate causes a surplus in glucose. It's why I prefer to eat under half my body weight in carbs before I workout. Otherwise I'll feel lethargic.
00 ReplyDepends on what and how much I eat.
If I eat before bed. Then I can’t sleep.10 Replytake him to the doctor and have him checked for diabetes or prediabetes
