I had my first beer at age 16; Budweiser, which I thought tasted foul, and something like carbonated vinegar. I didn't touch another beer for three more years, until I had a Carlsberg, which I liked.

The first hard liquor I had was a shot of Jim Beam bourbon at age 17. Although JB is a rather mild bourbon, it burned quite a bit. I did a lot of coughing but got it down. 45 years later I enjoy bourbon every evening, and those are usually much stronger than Jim Beam.

I started having some sips of wine when I was very little, since my parents gave me sips of wine to make me try it. Obv I’m not an alcoholic now and their intent was only to make me experiment things safely.
