Here you go- a 2 for 1 recipe!
Homemade Biscuits
2 c flour. - 1 T. baking POWDER. 1 t. table salt. 1/3 c oil (canola, corn, safflower work best)
Preheat oven to 400ºF. Mix dry ingredients. Add in wet ingredients. Mix until ball forms. Knead a few times on floured board. Roll down to 1/2" thick. Cut 2" rounds, place on cookie sheet. Bake at 400ºF, 10-12 minutes or until baked to your preferred level of golden-ness. Serve with honey, country-sausage gravy, butter, etc.
Homemade Dumplings
Same exact recipe!!! Break off hunks of dough and pop into boiling water to cook. Size of dough balls will determine cooking time. Remember that the sizes will at least double. A dough ball about the size of a 50¢ piece takes about 8-10 minutes, larger ones up to 25 minutes or even more. (Smaller sizes will cook more quickly and evenly.) I will just cook them in the water, then just add chicken broth "soup base" into the cooking water, toss in some sliced celery, carrot and onion, and have chicken dumpling soup in under 20 minutes. Enough of the starch on the surface of the dumplings will slough off during boiling so that the result is a nice, semi-broth/semi-cream type of soup without having to even take time to make a roux!
Or, serve with pork and sauerkraut- both with plenty of caraway seed- for a Polish/Czech dinner.
In the southern USA the flour is ether "regular", all purpose or bread flour. In the north it's pastry , all purpose or bread flour.
You want to use the low glutin pastry flour for in the for biscuits pies etc. For Pizza crust or bread use the bread flour.
This is why southern bakers have trouble up north, the flour has more glutin.
Yep! I likes me some cookin'. 😊 It's always really rewarding when you make something really tasty, or when you randomly add different ingredients or create something yourself that tastes good. It can also be nice to cook for other people too.
I was lucky in that my mom taught me and my brother to cook starting at a very young age. I consider it an important life skill to have. I'm really glad she did and I know me and my brother have benefitted from it greatly, so I feel grateful for her taking the time to teach us.
by the way, I make a pretty mean banana nut bread! 😉 Just sayin'. 😇

Try using a paw paw in place of banana in the recipe. Fantastic.
No, I hate it! Not so much the cooking as the prep work and cleaning up after your done! By the time I'm done cooking, I don't really enjoy the meal as much because I'm tired.
That's why I prefer simple to make meals (think salads, cereal, microwave meals) or pre-made meals. Good thing I live alone, if I had to cook for others? They would screwed, haha.
I mean it's ok I guess but I don't cook much. Maybe if I try something less basic it'll be more fun. I like baking a bit more though.

As I live by myself, I do enjoy cooking. But after the beans on toast incident in 2012 i don’t venture into my kitchen much. But I’m a whizz with an iPhone and a takeaway menu.
But tonight I’m having a go at cooking stir fried beef with bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, cabbage, carrots and red peppers in a black bean sauce.
Cooking is fun, kind of messy but overall a great skill to have. I dont know why anyone wouldn't like to cook. I dont really have a favorite recipe, I've only done a limited amount since I've only started learning a few months back. Ideally, if I can make health snacks and treats that taste amazing, that's my goal. I'll respond to this with a recipe if you want but what do you like to eat?
I do. I don't prepare anything crazy when eating alone, and I do much less baking, but cooking is great because it's both careful planning, improvisation and intuition. You start with a plan and possibly adapt based on circumstances, and modify it more to your taste with every repetition.
Yes. I'm actually pretty good, but I always make a gigantic mess, so I don't do it very often.
Thanks. It's always nice when I can help others out just by being a mess.
Grilling. But this recipe is Satan’s work:
I might not be able to cook that good, but I like to be a helping hand by washing the dishes clean after the cooking is done.
😃👍
Yes. I like cooking and baking stuff. I find it relaxing 😆
I love cooking, but I'm more into baking sweets.
I can cook a little bit but cooking not my thing.
That’s baking, which I have practically no experience in. But I enjoy cooking a nice tasty dinner. 🥗🥘🍳
Yes. I’m quite a good cook and have made meals for 20+ people before. Just don’t talk to me while I’m cooking. In fact stay out of the kitchen.
Yeah I enjoy cooking, I'm not the best in the world at it but I do enjoy it and the foods edible so lol that's what counts right?
I only enjoy it if I HAVE to cook one of my delicious recipes. Anyone can cook, it's just following a recipe to the t. Too many people think they can get creative. No sonny, the person who writes the recipe gets creative.
Kinda. Couldn’t be bothered to get fancy cooking for myself, but I did like to cook for a crowd
I like grilling outdoors. when I cook indoors there is too much cleaning up involved.
I not only enjoy cooking, I love to cook. When I'm stressed, it calms me down too.
I don’t like cooking I like having sex but never had sex
