Do you like cooking?

I have a love/ hate relationship with cooking. Mostly hate tho lol.

i just think it’s way too much effort. It takes forever, it creates a mess, it produces a lot of dishes, takes a lot of ingredients.
Every time I start cooking, I regret it half way through cause I get so fucking over it…

The love part comes from when I do make a dish that comes out good (which is not guaranteed with my cooking lol. It’s very hit or miss), I get really proud of myself. And I’m excited to share the food with others.

luckily I’m married to someone who loves to cook. So I don’t really have to cook that often cause he does it most nights.

My job is having a holiday potluck and I’m debating if I want to try and make something or not.

I’ve never cooked for anyone but my household. The idea of making something for a large group of people makes me nervous.

Cause serving bad food is embarrassing… I’ll curl up in a ball and die if I bring food and nobody likes it lol

I’m kind of the same. It usually comes out well but I’m always like “I just spent 1-2 hours cooking, I’m going to eat for 15 minutes, and then spend the next 45 minutes cleaning up. Not a great effort/reward ratio. I cook for my 91 year old dad every Saturday night, usually a tenderloin steak. He says they’re the best he’s ever had…. but to be fair, my mom always bought us cheap cuts of steak, and probably ditto for my grandma, and I guess she wasn’t big on seasoning anything she cooked. Some real white people shit, lmfao. So I think I’m just the first guy serving him a nice cut of meat, and even if it’s over cooked, he’s used to well-done steak, so it’s fine by him. He has low standards, basically. I think it’s pretty fire, but Gordon Ramsey would probably tear my ass up over it. But yeah, anyway, once a week is good for me. I still cook for myself the rest of the week, but it’s very basic stuff, usually broiled chicken breast with either a simple salad or even simpler steam-in-the-bag frozen vegetables, so I’m just barely “cooking.”

You could probably find something simple online to make for that potluck. Do you have a crockpot? Earlier this year I brought some sliced kielbasa slow-cooked in store-bought BBQ sauce and apricot jelly to a Super Bowl party. Grape jelly is the usual recipe, but you can play around with that. Anyway, you slice the kielbasa, throw it in the pot, squeeze out the full bottle of BBQ sauce, and scoop out the whole jar of jelly. Cook it on low for probably 4-6 hours, but I’m going from memory, obviously check a similar recipe out to be sure. Bring a serving spoon or long toothpicks. It doesn’t get any more simple, and it was gone at the end of the night.

Honestly, I am notorious for burning water and view the microwave as an ancient fire god whom I worship and in return feeds me. It is a magical relationship.

So in that sense, I like cooking. However, I have to say, I think most would view my answer is in the negative - and the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services has placed a permanent ban on me feeding anyone other than myself. Something about environmental damage or something like that...

I like cooking for people I love. If I am by myself, I am not interested in cooking.

I loved cooking for my brother occasionally or for my ex.

I still have a lot to learn though.

Not generally. It's why I often sacrifice flavor & consistency for efficiency. I'm the type to be completely okay with eating tuna straight out the can with some cold pinto beans on the side. I don't need seasoning. I just eat that stuff for the health benefits.

I love to cook. It's one of my favorite things to do. Most of the time during the week I'm only cooking boring healthy stuff but on cheat days I'll cook some homemade Italian usually.

Depends on who im cooking for. I love cooking for my, lets call him a friend, because he genuinely gets pretty excited when I bring him sweets or other meals, but I hate cooking for my kid. Half the time it goes partially uneaten. For myself it depends on cravings and if I'm the only one who knows what I need. Like I have a specific steak rub I love to use with lots of cracked pepper and other spices but I'm the only one in the house who uses it, so if I want it I need to make it.

Not especially.. I agree it takes too long just to eat for a short time, and clean it up.. I'm not even making anything crazy, just maybe some French toast, or Pancakes.. Lmao.. Or scrambled eggs..
