I love the Asians, but that's their dumbest invention... eating with two sticks..
When fingers are right there... lol
We saw the sticks, and gave definition to scoop, or impale. A lot more efficient.
Do I know how to use chopsticks? No
Was I embarrassed for a time, because of this? Yes
Did I try to learn? Casually, until it made me upset, and I knew I'd never practically use it, lol
Do I admire those who can use them? Yes
At Asian restaurants, am I happy to eat my food with a spoon, while I see others use sticks? Most certainly :)
Yes I know, I prefer chopsticks while eating noodles or ramen since it's easier to get control of food.
Yes, wouldn't eat Asian food any other way, in fact I keep a few extra chopsticks in my glove box for when I hit the Bojangles drive through, I usually get their salads and trying to eat a salad with a spork is just painful and chopsticks take less space than other options.
Nope. I never tried it.

these 2 sticks influenced and have evolved.
Uses-
! make a cross
! light on fire and stick down gopher's hole
! sit them on your hand for endless creativity
----- ! pick up little stuff, because you dont have clean hands! ----
I’ve used them ever since I was 3 or 4 years old and my cousin could peel eggs when she was 1 years old. Our whole family and all our close friends use chop sticks cause we are Chinese or influenced by Asian foods.
Yes and like a local Asian. Don’t have to put bowl up to face and shovel like the Custom.
As for me I suck at using them & although I know how to use them I guarantee I’m not using them the correct way. Tried them with soup once, no good.
Keep at it! You'll improve!
Yes, I spent a lot of time in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. I might have starved if I didn't use chopsticks... knives and forks are not always available.
What were you doing there?
@Guardian45 I was working on rail transit systems
High-speed trains? Maglev? Hyperloop?
@Guardian45 regular old subway trains
LOL! Okay!

I loved that guy!
Did you see his ninja chef?
*sigh* True. It changed for good when the Originals left!
I've been living in Korea for a year and a half and I still cannot use chopsticks...
I don't know what it is. People keep teaching me but for some reason i just can't.
That’s really weird.
I take the skill for granted. I learned how to use chopsticks young and I’m quite proficient with them. Is silverware readily available when dining out in Korea?
My girlfriend is Fujian and she lived in China until she was 29 years old. She has taught me well.
With chopped food yes but I would feel uncomfortable eating rice or noodles, it just looks bad table manners to my western eyes.
For me noodles yes, but rice no. Unless it's sticky rice
I used to have a trick to 'get them to work' but I forgot and last week I failed miserably to finish my ramen.
My dad taught me when I was younger but I could never get good at it. I prefer a spoon of that is the options…
Sure do. If I eat out at Asian restaurants with my friends I laugh when they choose forks lol.
@ManOnFire
Are you known as the 'Chopstick Snob?'
I've lived in Japan for a total of 10+ years so I'm better at using them than most Asian Americans.
Tbh I do but I’m not confident I know the proper etiquette with them and am about 80% sure I’d insult someone if I went to a foreign land and ate out 😅
Not properly, I did for a while when I was younger, but I'm at the point where I'm done fucking around with Asians and they're stupid customs. Now I only travel to countries and restaurants where people eat with forks and knives like normal people.
Last week, I went to a Japanese restaurant and tried using chopsticks for the first time. I wasn't so bad but it wasn't good either. Definitely could've finished my food faster if I was using a fork haha
My family would whoop my ass into next year if I didn’t
With kung fu?
Jk
Hell no, my cousin tried to teach me so damn often but nope
Indeed I do. I knew how to eat with chopsticks before I dated my now wife. She was Very surprised and amazed I knew how to eat with chopsticks - especially her being traditional Chinese 👍🙂
Yes but I'm not as good as my wife who could build Legos using chopsticks.
Knowing how to use chopsticks effectively is a sign of sophistication. My understanding is that in some parts of the world forks are considered barbaric eating implements... Why should you stab something that's already dead?
The food looks a bit wobbly between them, but so far I haven't dropped anything
yes, I've used them since I was a little kid
I'm half Chinese, but my white mom taught me, so I quite unconventionally use 4 fingers instead of 3, but it works just as fine.
Yep. I learned when I left home and began making my own food.
Yes, I learned how to use chopsticks since I was 9 or 10 years old.
I think it would be fun to learn how to use chopsticks. The forks and spoons are easier to use.
I gave up trying years ago... I found it so much easier using conventional eating utensils, eg. Knife, Fork & Spoon.
Yes its extremely easy , have been using chopsticks for 30 plus years , simple and convenient.
Nope and I hope it's easier than it looks...
I do, but it’s still a struggle at times when it comes to smaller things.
Guilty No I do not. And still don't even with YouTube.
Yes. I’m Asian. Don’t pass food from chopsticks to chopsticks.
Yes, albeit not the most adeptly. But I'd imagine I get better each time I use them.
I have baby pictures of me using chopsticks as a toddler. 😆
I'm so good with chopsticks I can drive with them
I learned using chopsticks when I traveled to Japan and Hongkong a few times.
Easy but they're not so easy if you use plate instead of a bowl
I lived in Japan. If you CANNOT use chopsticks, then you STARVE!
Yes, but got to wonder who first thought picking up rice with two sticks was a good way to eat.
It's funny you asked that cause I just learned how a month ago
I'm part Japanese, so that was pretty much a must growing up
No and I refuse to learn.
When in Asia, I carry a knife, fork and spoon with me.
Lmaoo wow
Nope, I have a good supply of forks to eat with.
I never saw the need to learn how to use them.
Why learn to use an less efficient tool when spoon and forks and knives exist?
I learned in Japan but I usually use a fork or spoon.
I never tried, I prefer fork and spoon instead..
Yes. And it is one of the dumbest things in the world to do. Give me a fork and knife and I'll show you how normal people eat.
Nope never had the chance to try. I’ll probably just fail like I do with everything else
In theory yes, but i don't use it so i would need to practice a little before i could actually eat with it.
yes. i can use them. but if i'm really hungry, i just want a fork bro...
Nope. I use proper cutlery.
Simples...
Yes Korean style and etiquette
I know how to try to use them
I do, but still rusty at it. 😅
Nope I couldn’t ever figure it out. A fork is so much easier
Reasonably. I struggle with soups, though.
I tried using them
Yes, but later on i found out that forks were invented so i switched to forks instead
A little bit but I don’t care to 100% learn
