My Chinese girlfriend - now my wife - made a supper for us both and I thought it would be nice to show her respect by eating with her utensils instead of ours. I asked her if she had another pair of chopsticks besides the ones she was using. She said you know how to eat with chopsticks? I said yes of course. She didn’t believe me but brought another set. It had been a while and repositioned my thumb and fingers took a little time - 5 seconds max - and she wasn’t impatient looking but more of a amused look - yeah right this guy doesn’t know how to use chopsticks. Well I finally got them right and we started eating and she ate but her eyes were locked on me as I ate with them. I said what’s wrong? Do I have food on my face? She said no. She said she has never seen anyone who wasn’t Asian eat food with chopsticks so well. I said thank you for compliment. 🙂👍
Yes, its like this
I make it work but I don't think I'm doing it the way it should be done lol
Yes, but my hand cramps up so I don't use mine often.

I do... but i am cheating. 🤣😂
It is a spring from a cloth pin... 😂🤣
That is how i learned. Now i don't use it any more. 🤭.. ( red of shame }
🤣😂 interesting..
@Constatine LOL... genius
@Mansearching internet is full of strange yet helpful ideas 😂😄
My fiancee is Chinese, so of course I know. I can use them well enough to eat rice with chopsticks.
I have more chopsticks than forks and spoons.
Sticky rice is the only proper rice
Yes, as long as there is some rice to act as a binder. I try not to pair them up and use them as a "pusher" with the bowl to my lips, as many will do.
@Massageman @Charliefretz329 @_Maya_ My fiancée ate so much rice as a child that she refuses to eat it now.
I can understand that
Go to know. It's clumsy and awkward, which suggests that I do not know how to use them proficiently 🤣
*got to go with no
How about food on lap? That's usually how it works out.
I'll stick with successfully imbibing sake👏
No
I've tried multiple times, but it always led to "Chopped Sticks"
I do know how. I often make Sushi, Ramen and other dishes and get lots of practice. I have about six sets of chopsticks. I even have a set in my truck that use if I head to a food truck or get take out while I am away working.
Oh yeah I can. But when I am in an Asian restaurant I'll ask for a spoon for the soup. Some of those restaurants just give you the bowl of soup and no spoon.
I have never eaten with chopsticks before. If I had no other utensils to eat with but chopsticks I'd probably starve to death
Yes you are probably right. Eat like a cave man
How do you stab rice or noodles? I can understand stabing chicken or steak, but you can't do it with smaller foods
Yes, but I prefer elegant eating with fork, spoon and knife. There is nothing worse than slurping sounds of others while eating and with chopsticks are those sound unavoidable.
THAH!! Chopsticks! I know how to uhm get them to work? If it's the right way, that's the real question! I'm going to watch a tutorial on it today...
I do. I remember my aunt taking a picture using with both of them in each hand. It was her birthday so i ain't gonna be that bish, it was good times
I lived in China for a while, those rotating tables - Learn or starve, lol
Nope. I am a nightmare lol. And I'm daring an Asian 😂
Dating *
I did ge got frustrated with me. So he gave up. lol
Nope, never tried because why would I lol... I hope it's not as hard as it looks 😅
Sure but mostly eating sushi which isn't too difficult. With some other dishes I can have a bit more difficulties
the second is correct... for stirring. unfortunately i am not skilled at this eating.
Yes, I learned to use chopsticks the first time I went to China. I use chopsticks whenever I eat Chinese food or Japanese sushi.
Yes, for past year I’ve used chopsticks mainly. I’ve beeb told I use them like a pro.
Like a native of China. I’ve often been complimented on that. It’s no wonder though, I’ve been in China on and off since i was 22 and in China I always used chopsticks.
Not well. My Chinese friends ascribe me to the level of young child. Although one friend once tried to convince me the relaxation from drinking would improve my skill 😂
Yup! Use them a lot when going to restaurants! 😜 Chip chop!!
I can manage but not a pro haha..
My first time using chopsticks was eating sushi😋
It reached my mouth without falling yeah lol😋
I do know how to use them. I use them when I eat sushi. I love sushi
Yes, I can use chopsticks but my hand cramps and I hate them.
Lived in Korea for 2 years and still can’t use chopsticks 🥴
I know them well.
I also know when NOT to use them :)
Yes I know, I like Chinese, Japanese and Korean cuisine.
I do as well. Love some good Thai as well.
Indeed, Thai and Vietnamese too.
Cannot say I've had Vietnamese. Not prevelant here.
I've never tried Cambodian and Burmese cuisine, but I'd like to.
Yes. When I was in Taipei I was complemented on my chopstick abilities. By a very attractive young woman.
One grain of rice at a time. Round vs square. With left hand AND strong hand. The better one is the higher the hand position on the csticks.
I learned how to use them when I was a kid, but don't normally have a need for it.
Yes. I always eat with chopsticks every time I go to a Chinese restaurant or buffet.
Yep. I figured it out when I was younger. Though I am not as proficient as native users.
Teachhh meee!
Yes. You unwrap the paper they're in. You detach them at the base. Then you take all of it and throw them in the garbage. And grab a fork. 😆
Yes, but I doubt most people in Asia use them.
Never had a need to. I'm awkward when it comes to using chopsticks.
Nope.
sorry... I don't know how to use it... I prefer own hands rather than fork. and spoon mostly
Before I went to China 🇨🇳 i forced my to learn (went to a Romon shop 2x a week for 6 months).
chopsticks aren't a very efficient method to transfer food to my face
I used to practice on marbles.
I didn't say I was good at it! Button mushrooms are even worse, but I manage.
I started that because of a story about a Japanese company who gifted chopsticks and ball bearings to potential customers, explaining how their perfect dimensions and smoothness made them the ideal training tool for chopsticks... and that they were picked at random from their production line!
I never used one but if I want to try that seem very annoying to me..
Yes I do. Not very well.
That part I get... lol
Its holding the food between the sticks.
I hope so! I lived in Japan for 3 years!
I DIDN'T starve! 🙂🙃😂
Like Mr. Yunioshi himself! 🤭🍜🥢😂
in tiffany lol.
"Ooone day, Miss Gorightry, onnne daaay..."
Yes even if its badly lol
Yes lol 😆 🤣 😂
I do know how to use chopsticks.
Yes, but extremely badly!
Yes. I learned when I was around 15-16 yo
Yes, since I was a kid. I'm half Asian.
Yes, we use them a lot at home.
Not perfect, but I can make it work
I do and it is fun at times to use them
but it takes too long to eat food
Yes, I learned in japan.
I can do it 💅
I’m into fork and forking 😂
Decently enough. lol
I have tried but it seems to be difficult
I never learned.
No im a uncivilized slob
Yep, use em like a pro yo
Never used them id like to try
