Italy is birthplace of Pizza and we take it very seriously😄. Have you ever tried it?
Yes. We were in Florence, Venice, Siena, and a few other towns. The food there is sooooo good there. We are going back this year just for the food!
I also lived in NYC for 30 years. there are NYC pizza and there is Italian style Italian food/pasta/pizza..for over 20 years. I didn’t eat NY Italian food. When I started to make money…I went to for real Italian food…it’s very expensive. Food in Italy is so cheap!!
can’t wait to get back there.

I’ll be tasting it later next month so I’m excited.

No. The crust looks fabulous but the center doesn't appeal. I prob better stick to the fake American kind
I have never tried but I have dear Italian friend from Rome along with others who said Japanese pizza is very close to real Neapolitan-style pizza. We love margherita and quattro formaggi the most with honey with wet mozz and ~60% hydration dough in wood-fired ovens. I think it it at least closer to authentic Italian than American pizza (although I love American pizza too, especially NY-style).
I had pizza in Italy but at a gas station during a Chinese tour bus vacation in Italy. We only had Italian food a few times because our guide thought we probably preferred Chinese food and many Chinese people are lactose intolerant and can’t eat pizza or certain pastas and there were many on the bus that they had to accommodate.
That looks delicious 😋 the closest I get and have enjoyed is many different local various pizza eateries here over time, but I'm not in Italy. Maybe someday, but I'm not bothered if I never get to Italy. Locally, pizza here mmmm 😋👀 from descendants of various races 😊😊
Yes, I had Neapolitan pizza while visiting Naples for work. Pizza Margherita is a typical, made with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, long beans, chayotes, salt, and extra-virgin olive oil.
It tastes totally different to anything found in the US from the big franchises, and it was the Americans who started throwing on the 'toppings'. If your lucky and find a traditional Italian Restaurant you may find a classic Neapolitan pizza.
No I really never had a true Italian pizza. I have had some great New York Pizza that was made by Italians. I also had some great Chicago pizzas. There are some fantastic pizza joints throughout the United States that I've eaten in. I've had one in great pizza in Cedar City Utah. It was called The Pizza factory, I don't even know it exists anymore. That was in the early 1970s.
Sure have, in Naples and it was excellent. I must say I never felt safe in Naples however.
I was in Naples a while back and had what they called an original Margherita pizza. They claimed that pizza was invented in Naples in the mid 1800s, and that Naples has the best pizza in the world. I must admit that it was good.
I'll stick to the Americanized version:

I've never had the real Italian pizza but I would love to! It must be sooo delicious!!! 😋😋😋
Sadly, I will never go to Italy... 😔😔😔🍕🍕🍕
Yeah there's an Italian Pizzeria in San Antonio, TX. That makes traditional Neopolitan pizza, their wood fired pizza oven was imported from Naples, Italy and they import the ingredients they use to make the pizzas from Naples as well.
Real pizza from Italy was just flatbread with oil and herbs. It looks nothing like modern pizza with sauce, cheese, and toppings...
Yes, many times and usually its excellent. These days though you can also find good pizza in the US.
Yes, absolutely. In fact, we accidentally stopped at a restaurant somewhere near Naples, and it turned out to be rated among the Top 10 pizzerias in Italy. Bonus: the server knew Russian, so we could actually discuss the menu with ease.
Yes and it was divine! Several pastas too, loved the desserts and the people were so hospitable. I definitely need to return
Going to Italy next month! Hope to eat lots of pizza there!
