Has anyone used a stroopwafel waffle iron?

Stroopwafels are very popular here in Wales, I think we invented them 😉 . I'm toying with the idea of buying a waffle iron and having a go at making my own. I'd like a traditional iron rather than some electric one.

Does anyone have any experience? In particular I'd like to know if homemade ones store well like shop ones.
