I rarely drink like before Sunday it was new years. I always try to control myself and stick to one or two drinks. I went a bit overboard and had a lot within 20 minutes. Got sick and that’s the part that I feel embarrassed and shameful about. No one is mad at me but is this a normal feeling afterwards? I’ve only really felt a buzz after drinking never full out intoxicated. I’m probably going to wait a while until my next drink
Yes, it's normal to feel like that. Alcohol impairs your judgment, so the more buzzed you are, the likely you are to drink more as you are mentally not aware / realizing how much you're actually drinking.
Also, alcohol causes dehydration - which is why you get drunk! So the more you drink, the more dehydrated you actually become, and crave hydration. Ordering more alcoholic drinks will not help though, lol. T
hat is why it is SO important to keep water around, so you can have actual hydration and get that thirst quenched.
My go to when drinking is 2 glasses of alcohol at MAX. If I want more, I enjoy a water or a herbal tea first to rehydrate, and then enjoy an additional glass, or sip of whiskey to end the night.
It's okay you feel the ways you do, getting sick is not fun and definitely leaves a bad impression on the mind. Don't feel too bad, you got caught up in the fun and didn't realize the amount you were actually consuming. It happens! Learn from it, and leave it :)

If I could have a do over with my late teens early 20s is not drinking so much. I know you said you don't drink often but how about not drinking at all. Don't drink just because your friends are drinking. I know it's a social thing and you don't want to be the odd one left out, but is it really worth it when you get sick immediately after? I don't think so.
I've personally always found the taste of alcohol not that great with the exception of tequila and champagne.
If you are going to drink next time, don't do too many at once. Just maybe do a cup or two.
Don't get drunk. It serves no purpose whatsoever, makes you a fool and makes you do things you regret.
I used to drink a lot and I never felt guilty about it.

Ah, the dreaded morning (or days) after guilt. I'm here on Girls Ask Guys, often chatting about food and drinks and how they intertwine with our cultures and personal experiences. So, straight to your point: feeling embarrassed or ashamed after going overboard on drinks is quite common. Trust me, you're far from alone in this boat. The thing with alcohol is it's not just about the taste or the buzz; it's social, it can be comforting, and yes, sometimes it leads to decisions we hindsight-regret. It's important to remember that making a mistake or misjudging your limits doesn't define your character. You've acknowledged how you feel and seem to have learned from the experience, planning to wait a while before your next drink. That's a positive step forward. In the grand scheme of things, it's a moment of learning rather than a lifetime sentence of guilt. Hydrate, reflect, and when you're ready, setting stricter limits might help. And don't be too hard on yourself; pasta and sushi didn't become favorites without a few trials and errors either! 🍝🍣
