1 yRare steak. “I like it BLOODY!” “I want mine still mooing!”
OK, Captain Caveman👌🙄
I once undercooked a tenderloin — A TENDERLOIN — and it might as well have just been me chewing on the skinned carcass of the cow hanging in the cooler of a butcher shop. It was SO unenjoyable. My jaw was sore the next day from trying to chew it. And it was a tenderloin, like I said, so I don’t know how it was at all tough, but it was.
Also, if beverages are in play…. straight hard liquor. Bourbon, Scotch, vodka…. how does anyone SIP that straight up and enjoy it for real? I’ll get a Scotch with a fancy dinner, just feels appropriate, haha. But it’ll be a decent Scotch, but I still am not really loving the taste. That shit is literally firewater…. am I missing something? Burn = bad, no? In terms of pure taste, anyway? I’m drinking it for the effect, I can’t believe someone is swishing it around in their mouth and being delighted by the flavor. I call BS😂

I don’t know…. the rare steak, the straight hard liquor…. I just wonder if they’d eat and drink that all by themselves. Maybe I’m wrong, but it just feels kind of phony and performative. Looking at you hot sauce extremists out there too😂

There is no blood left in a properly killed, bled and hung beef side, hind or front quarters. The red liquid you see leaking out of a steak or toast is not blood, it is myoglobin which is a protein that is primarily found in the dtrated muscles of vertebrates such as cow, pig, lamb or goat.

I'm totally with you on the sipping alcohol silliness. I don't get it. As far as the steaks bloody is just fine! If you have some au jus, fresh cracked pepper and horseradish dipping sauce your in for a treat!!

@DrPepper12 ayyyyyyyyy, prime rib au jus is top shelf👌 I have a place near me that makes a great sandwich with it, I eat more of them than I should, haha
I don’t know, maybe I’m doing something wrong. I think that bad tenderloin I had, now that I’m thinking about it, that apartment had a goofy fridge, like there was no “regular cold” setting it would achieve, it was either 50 degrees or 33, and my milk would start icing over, lmao. I remember trying to put it back on but it just wouldn’t cook through, the middle was probably just too cold, even though I always leave them at room temp for like half an hour before cooking.
Anyway, to say it was “chewy” would be an understatement. Rest her soul, I don’t think my mom was a steak expert, so I grew up on well-done London Broil or pan-fried cubed steak…. its why I grew up to be so tough💪😎😂
Nowadays I shoot for medium, dealing with higher end steak cuts. I worked at a bar with a restaurant downstairs, before I could cook. One night they had a steak special, I think it was a tenderloin, and when I ordered it well-done like I was used to, the kitchen guys gave me so much shit that I folded and never went back😂 Probably a point in the “pros” column for using shaming as a behavioral control tactic, lmao

1 yAnything that people claim can substitute potatoes. Cauliflower, rutabaga, fennel root, turnips... People go on and on about how it tastes just like the real deal. Um... no. No, it does not. At all. There is simply no substitute for authentic potato dishes. I'd rather just eat something else than eat that stuff. Yuck.

1 yI like sushi but i think it's overpriced given it's mostly just rice and a frozen fish. But for over rated it's got to be chicken wings, nothing but skin and bone with a tiny bit meat.

Truffle oil often leaves me wondering if its praise matches its reality. While genuine truffles are a luxurious delight, the oil often used is a synthetic concoction. I recall a fine dining experience where truffle oil overpowered a creamy risotto, masking its delicate flavors. Many find its aroma appealing, though it sometimes feels like a culinary shortcut rather than the real deal. 🌱

I avoid Italian inspired restaurants for this reason. Too many inane rules, the hubris, the "family traditions" that make no sense. I remember watching a video, like a youtube short about Tiramisu. This grand production with opera music and all and i'm like... you're plating it with a big kitchen spoon onto the plate table side, mint leaves for garnish, and Tiramisu in general requires ZERO technical skill to prepare. You have to actually cook banana pudding FFS! Its an assembly of ingredients, there's no cooking required. MOST Italian dishes are like this... a litany of ingredients that are assembled and then drowned in something expensive like truffles, balsamic, saffron, gold leaf then sprinkled with a little pomp and circumstance from the waiter

1 yExpensive food in general.
Steaks at restaurants. I can make a perfectly seasoned, cooked, seared, and TENDER steak on the grill in 8 minutes. Meanwhile a restaurant steak costs $40, is barely seasoned/tastes gamey, takes 45 minutes to come out, and ends up either being raw, overcooked, or poorly seared.22 Reply- 1 y
Also a steak at home costs like $12
Caviar might be one of the most overrated foods. Even though it is regarded as a luxury, some people find its fishy and salty flavor unpleasant. Due to its popularity, a lot of people might feel compelled to enjoy it, but the distinctive flavor is not for everyone, so it feels overhyped.
00 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Avocado's. Flavorless mush that browns in minutes. No way in fuck is it worth the money.
That or guacamole. Gross.31 ReplyI’m not convinced anyone is pretending to enjoy anything lol. For every weird food out there, there are people who love it more than anything.
If I had to guess though, I’d say lobster? I mean they are enjoying the copious amounts of bread and garlic butter, but the lobster itself? Try it plain lol

1 yl love seafood, especially shellfish... But I gotta say oysters are gross. And watching the people literally slurp while eating them just makes me sick to my stomach. At least don't slurp!
00 Reply301 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Nothing. I don't truly believe people choose to eat or drink what they find disgusting and pretend to love it, at least not long term anyway.
And if they do, shame on them.

Lol broccoli the only vegetables i can eat, I don’t really eat veggies, because dome veggies have kinda bitter taste, and broccoli is kinda plain😂
- 1 y
No faking it here! There's so many ways to make it and it's all delicious
- 1 y
@DrPepper12 as long as you mask the taste i can enjoy it. so in like soups or salads for example, but by themselves? nah i can't do it lol
- 1 y
a lot of people over cook it, which makes the flavor way to strong.
1 yAvocados 🤮

In my country avocado is only made into dessert. So they are sweet, mostly we eat that like sweet raw fruits soup, sweet juice and sweet salad.
- 1 y
In the U. S. they make avocado toast or eat it plain.
- 1 y
You can try to make avocado shakes, that really good.

I tried making avocado pudding and threw up. Never again will I make anything with avocados.

1 yCheap beer
15 Reply- 1 y
Now that's the correct answer! My wife used to complain about $45 for a case of beer and I told her point blank and emphatically that I'm not going to drink the shit I drink in high school. Suck it up. We went through this several times a year as the seasonals would come out.
- 1 y
That and cheap beer tastes like piss. Before have GERD i drank blue moon, red ale, guinness, stouts, shandys, mead, and ciders. I drank for flavor, not to get drunk. I really hate i can't drink because this time of year they have the caramel-apple cider and spiced cider whiskey
- 1 y
I gave it up 6-7 years ago. I miss the craft beers a lot. I'll drink any type but IPA. Those are vile!!
- 1 y
IPAs honestly taste like crap. The heavy hops flavor overpowers the rest of the ingredients and flavorings. Mead was the best way to go. smooth, relaxing, full of flavor, light on the pallet to where it doesn't overpower the favor of any meal.
- 1 y
Had a 44 tap microbrew by me that had a honey mead with 11% abv and a light oatmeally flavor. It was spectacular. My go to no matter what was dogfish head Midas Touch. Sam Adams also had a great blackberry ale too.
