I'm am talking about what Americans call English muffins, like they use in McDonald's Egg McMuffins.

The cake type usually get called blueberry muffin or chocolate muffin that type of thing or you'd just know from the sentence, "Jane went for coffee and a muffin."

English muffins are usually associated with breakfast and savoury as well as sweet fillings. Again you pick it up from the sentence, "Jane wanted her muffin buttered."

Liam. They’re generally referred to as cupcakes. If you have one where a small discs has Ben taken out of the top; the hole filled with buttercream and then the disc cut in half and replaced, these are known as either fairy or butterfly cakes because of the new shape taken on.
