So, have you ever had flavourless ice cream, and if not, is it something that appeals?

It think it's just inadequacy of English language. In Englich ice cream contains already cream. In other languages where ice cream and cream are different terms is such neutral testing ice cream called just 'cream taste'. Like in garman "Sahne Eis"
I've had it, but only as a base cream to add flavors to when making ice cream with liquid nitrogen for chemistry club when I was in school. It isn't bad or anything, it's still sweet.
You can add pretty much any flavor to it and it's still alright. Like we forgot to bring strawberries and blueberries to one presentation and a professor had rhubarb, so we just blended that up and tossed it in, still came out fine.
Yes I sampled dog ice cream to see what it would taste like. There is absolutely no taste. No flavor. It was blah yuck. I don’t think it lasted very long in the grocery stores and I don’t see how dogs would enjoy that kind of ice cream. I don’t think my dog liked it when I bought it years ago
A local company has managed to get it's dog ice cream in a lot of stores, ice cream parlours and cafés. You see the sign hanging outside lots of places but I don't think I've ever seen a dog eat it.
If you have a dog, why don’t you take the dog and get the dog some ice cream but sample it a little bit before to see how it actually taste. It’s not like you’re eating dog food but ice cream just a little sample, a tad on your tongue it is a little bit different so that’s why I didn’t have a problem with sampling it dog ice cream but the one that I sampled is absolutely worthless with no taste. Hopefully your Dog 🐕 ice cream from the UK is a lot better.
My dog (s) hates dog ice cream, but my daughters dog loves it.
@dreamstar72 Yeah as I recall a long time ago, I don’t believe my dog liked it at all. I’m not sure, but I ended up throwing it out or taking it back one or the other. They had it in the freezer section at public supermarket. I believe the brand was dog ice cream was Paws ice cream, or Paws Dog ice cream
Dog ice-cream is usually coconut milk and no sugar. The odd real ice cream won't do your dog much harm and they'll prefer a proper one
My dog likes vanilla ice cream, but gets maybe a couple of spoonfuls when we have ice cream, which is seldom. Why ask my dog lol
@dreamstar72 that’s good enough for the dog human ice cream
What is the point of having it flavourless? It's just cold in your mouth and that's it.
I've had the opportunity to try flavorless ice cream, and it's quite an intriguing experience. Without any added flavors, it allows you to appreciate the creamy texture and the subtle nuances of dairy itself. While it may seem bland to some, it's like a blank canvas waiting to be paired with vibrant toppings or sauces to create a personalized dessert experience. 🍦

It's not "flavourless" it's cream, and Mackies is the fucking bomb when it comes to ice cream.
The traditional ice cream is for things like ice cream cakes, and dishes that you want to use ice cream in, but want to add your own flavour onto.
I've had flavorless ice cream, the kind we made at home, before adding flavor. It's like eating crushed ice. Needs flavor to make it palatable.
Aww Mackies dairy ice cream is my absolute favorite. It’s my go to for ice cream always
Second would be pistaccio , third cococut
Yeah I've homemade ice cream before and didn't add anything extra
Well, was it really The Good Place?
That’s Scottish ice cream ❤️ yes I have had that ice cream based in Aberdeenshire
This must be a Brit thing because I've never seen it here in the US. We do have plain yogurt available, but that's a different product.
Thats made in Scotland they make nice butter as well
@purplepoppy not really but sounds interesting
I'm guessing it probably just tastes like milk.
I have had it, its called snow.
The yellow stuffs better
Never had flavorless ice cream, no vanilla isn't flavorless.
I think I have at like a state fair and thought it was good. It would have been many years ago though.
Flavourless would be awesome, people would be less likely to gag on it,
never truly had it but I do love adding plain milk to my ice cream. it has a pure flavor.
the milk freezes into the ice cream
Not surprising, coming from an island that doesn't know anything about seasonings beyond salt
Actually yes, but it’s more of a gastronomic parlour trick for complex dishes
I've had it, I wouldn't buy it again
Wtf is the point of that? Empty calories?
Even vanilla has a little flavor
Like vanilla? I hate vanilla!
