When you hear read or think the word ‘drink’ what drink do you think of first?

I think of alcohol because in movies usually they always say it that way

“let me get a drink.”

meanwhile if it’s literally anything other they specifically say that: let me get a sprite. An orange juice. Etc.

I figure the reason they may just say drink instead of the name is because the names for alcohol are usually so crazy and far out and if the order is according to preference it can get pretty complicated pretty fast. “On the rocks.” A martini very dry. Etc. etc. the names for them are probably phrases like “devil’s advocate” or something crazy. Meanwhile when you order anything other than alcohol it’s pretty simple. “Sprite. No ice.” Or “sprite. Extra ice.”

I suppose saying drink signals whoever is serving it: waiter/bar tender etc, to listen to the order to completion.

That’s just my guess though, and what came to mind for me. I’m a non alcoholic so this can all just be a bunch of baloney theory.
