What would you order at a diner?

Depends on what diner and what is on the menu ,
I use to go to diners all the time when I lived in New Jersey , Jersey is like Diner central lol. I mainly went to diners for breakfast and one of my favorite things to get was Scrapple and Eggs , unfortunately where I live now , they don’t have scrapple on the menu and most people out here don’t even know what Scrapple is , even though you can buy scrapple here , it isn’t the same quality that Philly and Jersey has. Everytime I go back to visit friends and family in Jersey I stock up on Scrapple and other things as well that I can’t get here.
Probably a burger and fries. But, depending on the menu, maybe a Reuben sandwich without sauerkraut, a pastrami sandwich, or a battered cod sandwich.
I might also have a chocolate malt at a diner like the one in the photo.
Depends on the diner. There's one place I'd go to for onion rings or steak fries... not everyone makes them the same way... There's one place I'd go for potato skins... and another for burgers or omelets. (I rarely veer towards sweets at diners, but on occasion there's one that makes a decent flapjack or waffle.)
Battered cod or haddock french fries, coleslaw, remoulade sauce

I can more easily say what I wouldn't and that is toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches with mustard.
The waiter came back saying the "chef" refused to put mustard on but brought a variety of jars of mustard that I could apply myself after prying the sandwiches apart.
That was going to work.
That is silly, if you spread on TOP, except place to hold, you get mustard in the same bite!
@strateguy632 It is not the same as on the cheese! The flavors are together than but aren't if the mustard is on top of the toast. Chalk and cheese.
Plus a diner cook to call himself a chef is really uppity.
@NicholasRedone I can enjoy their breakfasts when travelling but with the number of cafes in my street it would be disloyal of me to drive to Maccas.
@NicholasRedone My local rips off backpacker waiting staff :)
@NicholasRedone Good advice
I ordered pastrami on rye, first time I went to NYC, because I'd heard of it and it sounded cool. It was insane! I had to eat through, like, a pound of meat before I could even see the bread.
I would probably do it again.
Then have a heart attack.
Corned beef hash, 2 eggs over medium and sourdough toast for breakfast,
double cheeseburger with potato salad, or a Rubin with fries for lunch.
scalloped potato's and ham or open faced hot roast beef sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes for dinner.
There is a local diner that has the best breakfasts. Bacon and eggs, pancakes and waffles. Sometimes I even have breakfast for dinner.
And an apple pie with vanilla sauce & ice cream!
A French Dip, or maybe a dinner with either turkey or roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, and veggies. Or, I might be in the mood for breakfast, which I rarely get, so French toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon, and maybe hash browns.
I like to order medium rare steak because my dad never cooks medium rare, he only cooks well done. Mandarin buffet also does not cook medium rare, because they do not want you to sue them if you get sick from eating undercooked meat.
Went to one the other day for breakfast after a night out on the town with some friends. I got pancakes and bacon👍 I always do breakfast food at a diner, at any hour 🥞 🥓
All diners are different. I would probably like to go in there for breakfast. Have eggs hash Browns, either steak or sausage? Couple pancakes big glass and milk cup of coffee
I'm always tempted by the "all day breakfast "
@purplepoppy breakfast or the fish burgers, are the only reasons to do McDonald's now in my 31st year 😁😄😆
@purplepoppy or if I'm desperate for meat, a burger or chicken nugg. Mmm
@purplepoppy poppy likes bacon and eggs? 🤤🥚 🥓 Mmm I like bacon and eggs 🍳 mmm 😋 really. I'm literally saying bacon and eggs, cooked of course
Pepsi Soda Ice Cream 🍨 or apple pie 🥧 with whipped cream on the side or vanilla ice cream on the side. - either or - unlikely both in one sitting. Soda 🥤
steak, sauteed onions, baked potato (laced with honey butter), and banana cream pie for dessert ~ cup of coffee, grape juice, and a glass of ice cold water
no liquor (am a teetotaler)
Wait. Wait. Wait!!! I'm from NY where 24 hours diners are sacred ground. You HAFTA give DETAILS!!! What time of day/nite, how old was I & who was I with?
The answers will change dramatically!!
A burger with cheese no onion french fries and a chocolate milkshake.
Each diner typically has a signature dish, one that it prepares especially well. That's what I would order.
That would depend on what is on the menu.
That popular cheeseburger called smash. No fries nor cola due to calories.
If the diner had a "special of the day", I'd get one. Plus a bacon-cheeseburger with fries and side of onion rings. If in the south, half-sweet iced tea. Elsewhere, a Coke.
Burger and fries
Hot ham and cheese
Biscuits and gravy
Country fried steak, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes, coffee and pecan pie.
It depends on where I am at and what is on the menu and what I'm hungry for.

I've been ordering a club sandwich at regular places.
Probably the meatloaf with ketchup on top of it, mashed potatoes and gravy, and whatever else they have p
If they serve Tex Mex, those are usually what I order. I want chili and burritos.
Either a bacon cheeseburger or a club sandwich with fries.
Pizza Burger! Clam strips, Disco fries, etc..
depends on what they have, but anywhere from steak to burgers.

Between pancakes, waffles, if they have any, with bacon, or a biscuit with eggs and bacon.
