I sure as hell would not/.
Depends on who was offering.
I have a tendency to expect someone to take a bite or a sip before i tell them exactly what is in it. People, especially kids, form biases about ingredients without giving a recipe an honest try. Flavors and textures blend. Also, i was raised on “Don’t knock it until you try it.”. Ell oh ell!
If i trust the person who’s offering, i will probably try it without necessarily knowing what it is or exactly what is in it.
It helps that i have no food allergies or intolerance issues.
My Chinese wife eats chicken feet, sweet potato leaves, tree fungus, and other disgusting things that will never cross my lips. No way I eat anything without knowing what it is!
Wife: I have chicken feet.
@OlderAndWiser : Put your shoes on and nobody will notice.
I actually buy packages of chicken feet for her when I am at Costco, but I carry them into the house the same way I would carry a smelly, messy diaper.
:) :) :)!!!
Thanks for MHO!
Has never happened to me, and why would they NOT tell me? I'm not eating chitlins, or that puffer fish from Japan that can kill you, or anything endangered.
So, what's the reason for not telling. And I'd politely refuse. If you can't tell me, it's not something I want to try. And I'm game for unusual foods.
No. Especially if they don't want to say what it is
"It was cyanide cookie that you ate"
"why have you give me that?"
"you didn't ask. lol"
I love a culinary adventure, so I would gladly accept the mystery dish! It reminds me of a time in Tokyo when I tried something without knowing what it was. Turned out to be takoyaki, or octopus balls, a delightful surprise that became a favorite. There’s thrill in unraveling flavors, and sometimes it leads to delicious discoveries. 🍴

Not before asking what it was. As long as it didn't contain olives (I hate olives) or bugs or something, I'd probably give it a try. I like trying new things.
I kinda would taste it but not eat it entirely if they still haven't told me what it was.. but if its something like chocolate chip cookies with a side of my wife's breast milk there's no holding me back Lol
Nooo. That’s something my mother taught me early in life. She told me to never take food, medicine, or a drink if someone just randomly offered it to me. It could be laced with something.
That depends on how well I know the person. I was in China several years ago, at a celebration dinner with a customer my company had just signed a deal with. I was reminded to not ask what the food was, just eat it.
No. I'm not a picky eater, but I do have to know what's in something due to one or two serious allergies.
I know there are stories of bad people but I view them as uncommon reflections of the world and I would trust strangers, like chefs or restaurants to feed me, without a fear of being poisoned.
Depends on if I recognize it or not and how much trust the offerer delivers
I would want to know what it was before I put it in my mouth.
It would depend on who it was. Like my mom no problem. A best friend noway!
I dream of someone offering me exotic food. If they offered me insects like spiders, worms, cockroaches, or scorpions, I'd happily eat them.
No, they can put some drug in that and later rape me. I prefer to cook my own meals when I have time.
BIG time ⏲️ yeS i am always game for something new.

My dad once served Rocky Mountain Oysters at a party. Luckily I wasn't there. 😂
