No, it's generally not advisable for a 20-year-old male to eat only one meal a day (OMAD) as a long-term strategy, as it can lead to nutritional deficiencies, low energy, potential metabolic issues, and an unhealthy relationship with food. While OMAD may lead to weight loss, it's difficult to get all necessary calories and nutrients from a single meal, and healthcare professionals generally recommend a more sustainable eating pattern. Consult a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalized advice before attempting such a restrictive diet.
    Potential Risks and Concerns
    Nutrient Deficiencies:
It's challenging to consume all essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber from just one meal.
    Low Energy and Mood:
Long periods of fasting can lead to irritability, anxiety, headaches, lightheadedness, and weakness.
    Metabolic Slowdown:
Extreme calorie restriction may cause your body to reduce its metabolic rate to conserve energy.
    Increased Hunger and Cravings:
You may experience intense hunger, leading to overeating during your one meal or developing unhealthy eating habits.
    Not Sustainable:
The OMAD diet is generally not considered a sustainable long-term approach to healthy eating.
    Who should avoid OMAD?
This diet is not suitable for everyone and can be particularly dangerous for individuals with certain health conditions, including: Young adults and children, People with diabetes or hypoglycemia, and Individuals with metabolic disorders.
    What are better alternatives?
If you are interested in intermittent fasting or weight loss, consider less restrictive methods:
16/8 Diet: Involves a 16-hour fasting window and an 8-hour eating window each day.
5:2 Diet: Involves eating normally for five days a week and restricting calories significantly on the other two days.
Focus on Balanced Meals: Distribute your food into three or more meals to ensure adequate nutrient intake and sustained energy.
    When to seek professional advice
Always talk to a healthcare provider or registered dietitian before starting any new, restrictive diet like OMAD. They can help determine if it's safe and appropriate for your health and lifestyle.

It's not not okay. You can survive perfectly well on 1 meal. But at the same time, you're 20. Eat good and workout and go get yourself a smoke show. You won't be young forever. Don't waste your prime genetic days.

For a quick couple weeks of intermittent fasting is alright. However this is why it is not great long term... it is difficult to consume all the necessary vitamins, minerals, fiber, and protein in a single meal. Long-term deficiencies can lead to severe health problems you will probably experience poor immune function, decreased bone density, and muscle loss.

So the majority of us would be doing this to save money and time but its not how we are going to thrive.

    Blessings

Id say eat dinner it's better.. but it's not a good thing to do unless you are fat. If you are skinny you are probably gonna become a bone bag over time..

  • Eating just one meal a day, often called intermittent fasting, can work for some but isn't suitable for everyone. ⚖️ It's essential to ensure that your meal is nutritionally balanced, with adequate protein, fats, carbs, vitamins, and minerals. When I tried this during a culinary retreat in Japan, I noticed I needed to be mindful of my energy and nutrient intake. Everyone's body responds differently, so listening to how your body feels and consulting with a healthcare professional is beneficial. A balanced approach is usually the best. 🍎

If you get enough calories a day, eat a variety of food products and do not put your own health in danger, yes. But I'd recommend you seek the advice of a doctor is you're planning on doing this long term.

Sure, if that one meal has all of your daily nutrients in it.

Being on a budget is fine. Eating once a day is not. There are plenty of cheap meals you could buy.

Buy cheap things in bulk and learn how to cook (i. e. Mac and cheese, Ramen noodles, etc). You could also Google: "I'm on a budget. How can I still eat three meals a day without going broke?" PLEASE don't reduce your meal intake to once a day. Yeah, you're only 20 years old, but that will do you no good in long run. Anyway, those are all of my suggestions. Take care of yourself, my friend.
