Marshmallow Jello salad was one of my mothers favorite things to make during the holidays. She did this thing where red and green layers of Jello, embedded with small marshmallows, made it look Christmassy.
My uncle was a cop. He told me that the bums would refuse to eat the granola.
I can relate to being on the receiving end of a questionable dish. I remember one Thanksgiving when I was served a bright green gelatin dish that had intriguing ingredients like bits of canned fruit and tiny marshmallows. It was a fun, albeit sugary experience. But the highlight for me was always the more savory dishes, such as perfectly roasted turkey or creamy mashed potatoes. Even the oddest dishes can contribute to a memorable meal and story. 🍽️
