It's Fresh Fruit Friday, so what is your favorite fruit? How often do you eat it?

They are late to the party. Damn. No wonders the US is filled with obesity. 🙈
Right now citrus fruit is popular in my house, they taste usually the best Dec-february, and I've been obsessed with persimmon fruit at the moment which is delicious both alone or with cheese.
Big shift in the food pyramid structure, perhaps worthy of a stand alone question. I wonder how much of it is scientifically backed and how much is political or appeasing farmers, perhaps even encouraging people to buy expensive meat over cheap grain. It'll be interesting to see if different countries come up with different ones.
As for fruit top of the list is a fresh fig.
Indeed, it certainly is very interesting. I frequent a few, what you might call, right-wing newspapers and when this topic comes up there's definitely some kind of echo chamber there. The basic consensus is 'carbs bad, meat and veg good'. It's a heavy meat diet really. I think this demonisation of 'carbs' is sort of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. When most people speak of carbs they just refer to the non-whole grain stuff, ie white pasta or bread. Well, of course that stuff is garbage. They seldom seem to have the capacity to try the whole grain stuff. Whole grain doesn't give the same sugar spikes of course, with the body digesting it in a more even way. I don't think a wholly plant based diet is correct (mostly because of the over-reliance on beans and nuts for protein), but I definitely still am influenced by the China Study and How to Prevent and Cure Heart Disease by Dr Esselstyn.
If we try and cast a more intuitive eye on the western problem, the issue is one more of excess and overconsumption of rich and denatured foods. 40% of Americans are obese, 2/3 are overweight. The reason for that is not because they're on plant based diets. The other issue is most people in the western world have appalling health, which doesn't really reflect well on the institutions that are the supposed guardians of truth when looking after and advising on health.
And yes, some of this seems to be a political backlash against the vegetarian and 'fake foods' industry, which is understandable. And of course, the control mechanisms that seem to be wanting to formed, ie you must eat low CO2 producing food.
Mangoes, straight of the skin. There is something child-like about partially cubing a cheek, spreading it out by distending the skin, and sinking your face into it while juices run down your hands.
I go for my mixed martial fruits… orange, banana, apple. 🙂👍
My favorite fruit has to be the mango. Its juicy and sweet flesh reminds me of summers spent exploring Southeast Asia, where I first tasted this delicious fruit in its native environment. I try to eat it weekly, especially in smoothies or as a delightful snack. 🥭 Its vibrant taste truly takes me back to those sunny adventures and endless exploration.

Yellow sweat cherries from my garden. Unfortunately only available 2-3 weeks every year.
Pineapple with cottage cheese has been on my mind lately. I do love a banana with peanut butter for a fast snack… watermelon margaritas (only way I’ll consume watermelon), roasted cranberries with sweet potato… craizins in a kale and quinoa salad.. I love an orange/pineapple mocktail with a hint of lemon or lime… I eat blueberries like popcorn.. I love and appreciate all fruit.
This is my favorite fruit and I indulge in it often and that's why I'm so healthy! 😊
I like mangoes, blueberries, strawberries. I like purple grapes, some green grapes. I like watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, melon, pineapples, and oranges and grapefruit and limes for limeade and some good ripe peaches.
I don't really think I have a specific fruit that I like above all others. But some fruits I do like a lot are oranges, pineapple, raspberries, dragon fruit, apples, plums.
Let me get some pineapple slices please! That’s my favorite fruit.
