like whats going on with the economy these days , is some trendy restaurants on the waterfront where i live , May isn't as busy as the summer tourist season but patio's are now open and usually there'd be some people on them but yesterday i was there around 2-3 pm in the day and like literally this one spot which is normally popular there patio was entirely empty like not 1 table
and both sections were empty , is a top and bottom , both the servers were like playing on there phones or doing nothing , the weather was not perfect but not cold or raining , not sure if it got busier later i left to go to the gym
like not a single table? maybe time to talk to the owner about making some changes or figuring out what the issue is

A place that used to be busy and is suddenly empty usually has a mix of issues, not just “the economy.”
Could be quieter shoulder season, menu price hikes, weaker food quality, slow service, bad recent reviews, new competition nearby, or even parking/roadwork.
At 2–3 pm you also hit a dead zone between lunch and early dinner.
If you know the owner, gently sharing what you’ve noticed and what friends say could help more than vague “change things” advice.
they haven't hiked drink prices , actually have drink specials that start at 3pm but no sign of anyone coming in for them
i agree owner needs actual serious advice on what to do next , vague ideas may not be enough , needs to make serious structural changes to the business to turn things around
its been much slower than normal this May , noticed that on other days , only the long weekend was really busy , very few busy days on there patio so far
