I have followed recipes that call for 'HEAVY CREAM' but there's nothing at the store that is heavy cream, just liquid whipping cream?

Heavy cream is really vague term. Probably sweet cream with 30-35% fat. Today most sweet creams are ultra high heated and homogenized so the can remain fresh over weeks and months. However every liquid sweet cream turns sooner or later in less liquid cream due fat separation, especially if shacked.

It's the opposite. Heavy cream is just regular cream but with a minimum fat percentage that is legally mandated, for the US it's 36% from what I can see. So pretty well defined and not vague at all.

No clue what sweet cream is supposed to be, seems to be an American thing where it's just cream with added sugar. It's also independent of the processing done.

The recipe basically just needs regular cream with enough fat to reach the stability needed.

They have a heavy cream powder at Walmart. Otherwise anything else is in the dairy section.

I don't either. I've never seen it in the store and, except for the title of an album by Cream, I never even knew it really was a thing until about 2 years ago when I got a bottle of it from the food bank and, before I could get half way through the bottle, it started going bad on me!!

It's not a big drama. Regular cream might be 35% fat, heavy cream 38-40%. They are interchangeable for most purposes. Maybe if you are making a ganache or other fancy patisserie it matters a bit.

You basically make whip cream by whipping the liquid cream for a few minutes.
