Do you drink mineral water? What mineral water brands originate in your country?

I love mineral water and partly because I feel so good after drinking it. It has essentially replaced sodas for me.

To be labeled "mineral water", it must be "bottled at the source".

In the United States, popular mineral waters are Topo Chico from Mexico, San Pelligrino from Italy, and Perrier from France. I often drink Gerolsteiner from Germany. Since Topo Chico is off-line as Coca-Cola is redoing the piping to accommodate the increase in demand, we've had to buy San Pelligrino. It's good, but not the same thing. And we love Gerolsteiner because of the high mineral content.

I like to shop at an international grocer to try new things and, today, I bought lots of different mineral waters including several that I have never tried.

In the US, to be labeled as mineral water, there must be total dissolved solids (TDS) of at least 250 mg/liter (or 250 ppm which is essentially the same thing). If the TDS < 500 mg/liter, the label also has to say "Low Mineral Content" and if the TDS > 1500 mg/liter, the label also has to say "High Mineral Content".

These come from the US Food and Drug Administration and help describe the different bottled waters including mineral water:

I want to be clear that mineral water is not just water for hydration, but that the minerals in mineral water have higher "bioavailability" because they are already dissolved. This means that your body can use them more quickly and you can recover faster. Think of Gatorade or other electrolyte drinks. Mineral water is Nature's Gatorade. And, because mineral water is locally sourced, each one is different because of different mineral contents and concentrations.

So, whether you drink mineral water or not, what I am interested in is a list of mineral waters from your country. In Europe, mineral water consumption and awareness is higher than in the US although the US is beginning to get there. So, I am trying to become aware of other brands of mineral water from all over the world.
