This is 2017 and the idea of a woman in this day an age having to submit to the will of someone else that is not herself seems so far beyond antiquated that we surely most be thinking of some other long forgotten century.

I wonder why some women in this era still struggle with the notion that they have just as much of a right to express their own thoughts and ideas and exercise their will power as do the men in their lives or anyone, male or female in their lives. Why do women need approval to be who they are? If you're smart, be smart, sexy, be sexy, both, be both, more, be more than any label, be that. If you want kids, marriage, the single life and a house full of cats, do it.

You see so many women crumble under the weight of the perceptions of others. Well, if I don't act like this, no one will like me, if I don't do this, my family will disapprove, if I don't dress this way, I'm going to be a target. There is no right way or wrong way for being a human being. There is no one way to do life correctly. There is no instance of anything you say and do that will garner a 100% approval rating from everyone. No one gets that.

You cannot continue to live under the weight of this pressure women tend to create about how we ought to be and live and think. I think if we worried less about the perceptions and more about making our own way, fighting our own fights, doing what we want to strive to do and being who we want to be, we could accomplish so more and push not just for ourselves, but womenkind everywhere. We could stretch to new and greater heights than we have already. Self doubt and self-deprecation should not be the things that prevent our growth as human beings. Letting someone tell you who it is they think you are and should be, especially because of your gender, should not be the thing that defines you.

Yeah! Stereotypes are partially there to create order, but everyone breaks them. So even if you acted like the perfect woman, that doesn't mean you won't be cheated on or used by others at all.

sorry hon, im single and don't own a house full of cats , and i don't know what women you run into, but most of the ones i know don't cave into pressure or whatever else you were trying to say. Too stereotypical. i as a woman am also gettin tired of hearing men get blamed for issues some have with themselves. and this may offend some but this why can't we have as much power as men crap is getting old... Men are suppose to be the leaders, men are suppose to have authority. Some need to stop trying to divide genders and come together and impower all of the people... We are all human beings.

My comment about the cats was insinuating that some are made to feel bad if they are happy and content and just happen to have a house full of cats and are single. Sorry if you didn't pick up on that.

As to your second point, there are millions of women in this world, so if all your friends are one thing, that doesn't mean others aren't another. I'm in a position where I work with a lot of young women, many of whom seem to be unable to find their voice because of reasons xyz, but they very much have one when they are alone and not having to deal with others or the hold they perceive others to have over them.

I'm unclear where it is you find that this is a "blame men piece." I stated that the pressure women sometimes cave in can come from men, women, anyone.

Men can be leaders, but so can women. Women can also have authority. Not sure which point you are making there because this is about finding your strength in thought and action as a woman.

This is cute, but its not applicable. A girl needs to decide whether she wants a nice marriage someday or she wants to have crazy fun and be a slut. Neither option is "good" or "bad", but they are contradictory. If she wants to get married someday she's gotta watch her behavior. Kinda like giving up some happiness now so she could be happy later. Whike if she wants to be a slut and have fun, she can do whatever she wants now, but she will never be happily married. So thats giving up happiness in the future so she could have it right away. And its up to every girl to make a choice what she wants really

What you describe are people with clear mental disorders. I'm sorry if you personally needed an asterisk to be attached to my statements, but those that do not have the mental capacity to understand right/wrong do not fall into the categories for which I speak. However, most of us agree that killing people is wrong--we're educated, smart, common sense enough to know that, however, do we not live in a society with the death penalty, one in which cops and soldiers kill people--things we justify as being right---yet there are laws against these things, and commandments if you are the religious sort. There are people who do and do not believe that these actions are right or justified... hence no group of non mentally disordered persons 100% will agree to anything.

First of; You don't need to be mentally ill to commit heinous crimes. Majority of gang members are not crazy, majority of serial rapist have been documented to have NO mental illness, Dylan Roof committed mass murder sober and in his normal state.

These people fall into the category that you speak of and you support them since you believe there's no such thing as right/wrong, and they don't either.

Secondly; Do NOT compare someone killing a coworker for pissing him off to a soldier killing a terrorist on his way to commit mass murder and therefore a threat to society. I support the troops, not the murderers you sympathize with.

Thirdly; It isn't rocket science to understand there's nothing 100% of all people agree on, that doesn't mean people who live their life the WRONG way are right.

I just happen to be speaking to women. We speak and are spoken to by specific groups everyday of our lives. Sometimes it helps to narrow the flow of information so things don't get bogged down by everyone and everything that exists in the world even if what you say can apply to someone or something else.
