Never underestimate anyone!

A 15 year old girl called Cori Gauff won against Serena Williams, who had won 23 matches.

In the beginning, people must have thought "how can a 15 year old girl win against a woman who won 23 matches?"

And now they must be thinking "man, we underestimated her."

Or this is a case of an obviously aged athlete past their prime being beaten by a younger person. Happens all the time.

Not to take away from her achievement, even aged, Williams is still good at what she does... but she is old now.

I'm not surprised. Serena is what? 38? It's amazing she's been in top this long. Eventually age will allow her down and she won't be competitive with younger players. At fifteen women athletes are closer to their physical peak. Tracy Austin won the Women's Singles at Wimbledon when she was fourteen.

Serena gave it to her. She's paving the way for more African American women to go after that impossible dream that has always been dominated by Caucasian women.
    • Shezadi

Interesting point but I don't think so. Serena was crying.

She was happy for the successor being black

Exactly true and there are 12 year old people who can beat adult grandmasters in chess.

That thing's not even a woman. So her win is actually a lot more impressive than what people are giving her credit for.

You mean 23 majors. But yeah. She will be one of the future stars. Usually when they are good that young, they end up doing well in their careers.

That’s amazing! It shows that anyone is capable of achieving their own dreams, they need to believe in themselves to do that...
