Why do women feel the need to put on makeup, even if their more beautiful without it?

I absolutely hate makeup, which is why I'm still single. My question is, why do women feel the need to put that disgusting gunk on their face, only to ruin their skin later in life. Every time I ask, "what is that for?"-"Oh its to help clear up dark circles around my eyes." Usually it's the product that caused your eyes to look gross in the first place. Natural skin is so much more sexy to me, why do women feel the need to make me think their cheeks are naturally pink, or their eye covers are naturally brown, amber, blue, or green? For one, naturally green skin is not sexy, and two you can see why i'm still looking for a partner. Any good answers why gunk needs to be on your face ladies? Ps. I'm looking for polite and insightful answers, no jerks.

are you an esthetician or a dermatologist? I don't think u know what ur talking about to say "usually that's the product that made her eyes look gross in the first place".

guys like you say natural skin is best. yes rosy pink cheeks and natural eyes are all well and good... but what about rosacea? hyperpigmentation and dark marks? acne marks? pimples? blemishes? breakouts? dark under eye circles? puffiness? uneven eyebrows? all of these things are natural, however I find that men who go on and on about how they hate makeup tend to want a woman whos naturally perfect and are the first ones to be repulsed by a womans natural imperfections.

Because if we don't no man will approach. Trust me I HATE makeup.. profile pic? not wearing any because its a hassle. But I've noticed that no matter how cute my outfit, If I'm not wearing makeup, the one girl who looks like a clown gets all the attention. I've heard many men to say "Oh why do women wear makeup. I like natural face" but will pick the one with the reddest lipstick over the one with chap stick and the chap stick one is prettier half the time. Thats why women wear makeup. Half the things women do is for the male benefit because if I had my way, Id never wear hells.

I don't know either for the most part the women in my family don't and if they do its on special occasions. I will try to wear mascara on occasions but that's about it.

I think women wear it to look better to themselves, other women and men. Most might think we are suppose to wear it as women, because we are exposed to it at an early age and its a part of dress-up

Good answer. I was thinking that it became a woman thing to do back in the day (not sure how far it goes back), and became part of playing dress up for daughters. Eventually becoming a norm. For me, makeup seems like it's only worn by those with small personalities. I can understand special occasions. Maybe it's television that's making me think women just love to goop it on. At the same time, my ex wore a lot of makeup and it grossed me out. When the makeup came off, it was obvious the stuff was ruining her skin.

It does it they are wearing foundation. I don't even know how they get use to the feel. It itches, the foundation and blush does.

I would love not to wear makeup, and I do feel prettier whitout it. But I have acne, so I HAVE to wear foundation, and when I wear foundation I need to put makeup on my eyes, or else they just look fucked. So I don't really think I have much of a choice.

It shouldn't, but it bugs me when a makeup commercial sends the message of covering up those nasty sun spots... Freckles? I love freckles, the fact that they don't get covered up tells me that this lady may be a real person.

I feel you. An all natural girl is a comfortable one. However, I do know that most girls will dress themselves up in order for a majority of guys to think they're pretty. You and I are in that 2% who don't care.

Usually I only put it on to appear older at work. Either than that, I stopped putting it on because I was relying on it too much to feel beautiful. Now I dont put any makeup either than work so customers will know me

As an ugly woman, I have to wear makeup. I am very unattractive, so I would do what I can to make myself look better. Although I can kind of see your point for the prettier girls only because if I could get away with it, I would never leave my house with make up on if I had natural beauty. At the same time, girls do like to get dolled up so that's likely why they do it.

Usually a sincere reason to smile will give you a beauty that people long to have. Keep your chin up, and be positive. Chances are, someone in your vicinity will wish they could share that self created happiness.

I usually do. Most people who know me say I always have a smile on my face. The problem is they just don't find me attractive. I have a very masculine face.

Just don't give up hope. A little background on me. I recently left the Army. Being there, I found that I have an attraction to tough chicks that get involved in real work. There's someone for everyone, which is hard to say from a single guy nearing middle age and can count a lifetime gf's so far on one hand. Someone will find your "masculine face" attractive. Guy's are all attracted to different things.

No everyone else tells me I am ugly. They all say my face is masculine instead of feminine. The only pretty part about my face are my eyes. I have big brown eyes, but the rest of my face is masculine. Even my mother and sister tell me I am ugly. My mother was the first to ever tell me I was ugly when I was 12 years old.

I love makeup! But I do agree that once in a while it's good to not wear any. I wear some and sometimes I don't. I don't feel like I have to wear it all the time like you implied that women in general. And I don't believe that women all wear it do to having a low self esteem I'm awAre of my appearance with it or without makeup. makeup brings enhances some of out best face features for example I love wearing eyeliner for my eyes and lipstick for my luscious plump natural lips lol

It doesn't seem weird to need silver lining around your eyes, and a black liner around your lips? (I'm not sure what you do, just humor me). The colors of the rainbow are not attractive on a woman's face to me. I think an odd pink tone is less attractive than a natural skin color. I can understand trying to cover something like pimples, but calling adorable natural freckles disgusting sun spots that need to be covered up with a water based paint, is ridiculous. Not, that I know what your regular routine is, i'm just venting what i've observed.

I totally understand, but we have very low self esteems so we feel that make up makes us look more appealing. If you think that about someone in particular then tell her that, she'll find it very sweet :-)
