Honestly, I used to work out a lot, have abs, and be pretty ripped. I couldn't get a girl to look twice at me. After I quit giving a shit though and got a little fat, girls started paying me more attention. You can go to any body building forum, and it will be mostly inhabited by a bunch of lonely, bitter guys with abs. Women are not necessarily attracted to huge, bulking muscles. That is more of a male power fantasy, and I've noticed the guys who become obsessed with weight lifting tend to be very insecure, which is a trait women find very unattractive.
I'm just telling you like it is, I used to go beat up body builders twice a week for fun. All the tough guys around here call me sir. I'm no stranger to the gym scene. The reason body builders start building their bodies to start with is because they are insecure about their bodies. Big muscles are a male power fantasy, never did a woman out of nowhere say, "I want a guy who can benchpress 400 lbs!" Never happened.
I'm not even a body builder, I am a martial artist. While you and the other meat-heads were slowing down your punches by creating useless bulky muscles that are good for nothing but aesthetics, I was doing qigong and doing chin-ups hanging from my fingertips, practicing my punches, kicks, grappling technique, etc. If you tried to punch me I could literally rip your biceps apart before you even finished drawing your fist back, causing such damage you'd be unable to move your arm for a few days. I have done it before.
I think people in general, male or female, deep down in their subconscious tend to prefer the middle ranges of a spectrum, rather than the extremes. It's a Darwin survival thing. Which obviously doesn't mean you don't pursue the physique you want, because YOU have idealized it in this way and you want it and that's cool, it just means you accept that there is a larger body of potential mates that might prefer you somewhere a little closer to the average. No need to get angry about it.
There is a big deal between working out, staying in shape and having pathetic unnatural muscles to that point he looks like a hulk. Personally, I've always liked average framed guys and it has nothing to do with being insecure. I'm attracted to what I like. We're not all the same and generalizing girls is as bad as if I were to make a post asking if all guys like very short and petite girls.
I'm not attracted to really buff guys. It's one thing to be in shape but to be extremely buff is a little much for me. Its an opinion, a preference. I wouldn't say its a turnoff though. I work out to stay in shape. I'm skinny and 5'0 so big guys are giants to me hahaha. I love guys who are into fitness and health. To me taking care of themseleves is a turn on.
Some men really go too far with the muscles. A healthy looking amount of muscles and a defined chest is ok. Looking like Dwayne the Rock Johnson (as attractive as he is) is way too much. It's a turn off to have too much. Its a turn on to have enough, not made of steal but defined arms and a nice face is melter :-)
Depends on how muscular you are. If you look like one of those bodybuilders who are lumpy and veiny, that's not very attractive. Although I would still prefer that to a fat couch potato. I suppose being lean and having some muscle definition is the most appealing.
Okay wow these comments suck dick here's the true girls like attention even when they say they dont they do so when the guy there with is drawing in all the attention it either turns us off or pisses us off! Like me for example I am the kind of girl that wants everyone to loil at be like wow she is hot or dam she is sexy not the not complements about the man I walk in with I get so angry as long as you are not showing of your abs to everyone then yes DAM have those abs they are sexy ;)
For me personally, I don't find it a turn off but I'm not attracted to them. I would rather a slim guy that a super muscled one since for me it just screams "vain" and someone who spends their whole time in the gym just doesn't appeal to me really. It's just about being in shape, over-muscled and fat people I don't find particularly attractive (:
It's true. In between is better. Or else u look like you have big potato arms. Sorry for being so direct. But I guess it depends on the girl. I, for one, gove priority to a guy's personality, but I am not going to be a hypocrit and say his looks dont matter at all. I have to be the least amount attracted to his physique lol
Not all women are going to like you, dude. I personally don't like women who are toned and muscular. I like 'em soft and feminine, but there are guys who like that look, and it's their preference.
I don't go to the gym much, because I hate being around all the narcissists who want a perfect body. I'd rather be big and strong than to just look good. Someday I'm going to start flipping tires or something. I want to get strong the natural way... The way people did before gyms.
You're the one who's insecure (the very fact that you posted this question proves that). I'm perfectly fine with how I look. I'd just like to be physically stronger.
I have a fiancee who loves me to death, despite me not being cut and muscular. You, on the other hand, are whining about how you can't find women who like your muscles. Me - 1, you - 0 xD
It's funny how girls think that muscular boy means natural. For example take a look at STREET WORKOUT and fitness the difference is big! Street workout is natural with less fake muscles. Fitness is just like pumped shit with no power.
Just take a look for example at Frank Medrano; it's natural and his body is amazing, but maybe for some too much, but there's a difference if you pick healthy lifestyle over fitness. It took him so much more time to develop that kind of body.
For example I am skinny, because I am one of 3% who have metabolism like ferrari. I am training street workout almost every day. But girls some girls this that more muscles you have stronger you are, it's just wrong. They don't even understand if you are Ectomorph I need to work 110% harder then everyone to gain weight!
That's why I find street workout much more attractive, even if girl do. I don't like muscular girls too.
It's true I've been personally surveying women on their opinion of what men's body type they like best (I'm a personal trainer of 4 years). 85% percent say they like a lightly muscled and ripped look... even thin men are liked more than huge guys. Lots of men think they need to be huge for women to like their bodies but it couldn't be more further from the truth. Proportions seem to matter more than pure size. It's kind of like the boob thing for women... bigger isn't necessarily better.
It actually CAN be a turn off. Not all girls will find something specific attractive and some girls will. It's a physical turn off for some girls. Some girls prefer just a for guy but not too muscular. It's not girls being insecure of their own bodies, lol that's pathetic. It's just a preference and its not the deal with all girls. And girls don't care if you do it for the ladies or for enjoyment. It is literally just a physical preference.
that depends, overly muscular guys are a turn off and can be really scary and/or gross at some point, i don't like guys that are ripped, just fit like an athlete but not like a professional bodybuilder, you can't please everyone, you'll just have to live with the reality that girls don't like brutish guys anymore, that was an 80s fad and its long gone.
I would not say it's a turn off. Sure I can appreciate a body that someone worked really hard for but muscular guys don't do too much for me.. like it's not a turn off but it's not a turn on either. I prefer guys who have a naturally uscular build but with a little chub lol like a little bit husky I guess.
I think muscle is a turn on... i like my guy to be strong for many reasons... but thats just me fat is SOOOOOO disgusting and it shows laziness which i cannot stand in a man. sorry didn't mean to offend anyone
No we don't. I'd like to date a fit guy. I like the idea of dating a fit guy. However being fit isn't a requirement for me. My boyfriend has a very average body and I still find him extremely attractive.
@KillerTaco what do you constitute as a average body though? for most girls that is going to consist of a guy who is about 5'9 130-149lb which to me is ewww but to your average woman OMFG HE HAS A BODY "naw he has bones/with very little build" now im not trying to hate, but most girls seem like these bony guys "not the ripped/lean lightweight ones who actually worked out LOL" but the kid who need to eat a burger or 2 LOLOL
i always say this by the way "everybody like everything when it comes to being attractive"

Yes, a male bodybuilders with lots of muscles would be disgusting to me.

The butt-hurt is strong in this one.

Insecure
You're the one who's insecure (the very fact that you posted this question proves that). I'm perfectly fine with how I look. I'd just like to be physically stronger.
Lol you wish I was insecure so it could make you feel better about yourself
Haha, you're entertaining.
I have a fiancee who loves me to death, despite me not being cut and muscular. You, on the other hand, are whining about how you can't find women who like your muscles. Me - 1, you - 0 xD
Lol whatever you say. Making things up as you go
Nope. Ask anyone who's interacted with me here.

Muscular guys are ridiculously attractive, don't worry about the haters.
Not every woman is identical? Shocking stuff :P
I also agree with @lumos. Working out to get muscles is just one fitness 'paradigm'. It wouldn't benefit you for internal martial arts, for example.
So? Who cares about that?
Stop trying to pretend like you're more sophisticated than you are. Muscle is good. Period. Not a complex concept.
I would not say it's a turn off. Sure I can appreciate a body that someone worked really hard for but muscular guys don't do too much for me.. like it's not a turn off but it's not a turn on either.
