Girls, when guy calls you in the middle of the night to see if you are ok?

I like this girl a lot and we've been quite hot and cold lately.
We also have a small group over Facebook and she posted there that she is supposed to go somewhere and she is a bit scared.
So i message her at some point, asking if she is ok and if she got home, knowing that she usually answers these pretty fast. She did not answer for some time, so i called her. She did not answer that either.
She eventually answered over the messenger app.
She said "thank you for caring :D" and when i jokingly told her i am traumatized by her not answering she said "awww, huuug"
Two questions:
1. Do you get it as interest if the guy calls in the middle of the night to see if you are ok?
2. The fact that she thanked me for caring and all, would that mean anything?

I would just think he's a nice guy and was checking in on me, but I would secretly be hoping that he WAS interested. I definitely would have said thank you, her smiley means she might be interested, but it's so hard to gauge that over Messenger. If you know her better, it's easier to tell.

Girls think a guy is interested when he does something as simple as smiling. I'm sure most girls would take calling in the middle of the night a sign. That's really sweet :)

But the fact that she said thank you isn't significant. Everyone says thank you when a person is nice.

Was trying to figure out if she is interested or not. If she would have just said thank you, i am ok. That's nothing. I can totally understand. But the way she thanked me and the fact that she took it one step further and sent me a *huuug*, makes me wonder.

well... maybe she's interested maybe she's not
but the hug thing and those hot and colds... maybe she meant she likes you after all but im not sure
