Is it true that women fantasize about being rescued by a guy and if so, why?

I heard some girls say that they do fantasize about that but (and I'm probably being to "androcentric" in my way of thinking) to me that sounds like fantasizing about "being a helpless wuss."

Also, do women find "damsels in distress" based stories offensive and superfical at all?

Meh, I wouldn't label anyone who finds a sense of romance and charm in that situation a "helpless wuss". I'm far from a helpless wuss and I can see the engaging appeal in that situation. It's nice to know that a man is brave, has a certain amount of fearlessness, and cares enough to put himself in danger for your own wellbeing. It's a type of chivalry that most if not all women these days will never get to experience so that's the appeal I think.

Very occasionally, if I'm in a 'helpless wuss' kinda headspace haha. I prefer to fantasize about rescuing guys I like actually... literally rescuing them from dangerous situations or emotionally 'rescuing' them... read into that what you will about me :/
