.. I grew up without father, he died when I was 6months old. my mom is the only one who raised us. we're two. I always spanked when I was a kid.. my mom is so strict. I experienced to be ironed accidentally by my mom because I forgot to do my assignment, I can say that my mom is so strict. we're always disciplined by hurting or by verbal words.. I'm always scared at that time. yeah there's a big impact in my personality but you know, I realized that I'm grateful to my mom. how she raised us on her own. because of being strict I'm here now and contented of what I am.. the most important is you'll look the good side why it happens.
I understood that the reAson why shesr like that is to protect us. the way that how we manage the situation and our emotion. in fact I'm not saying I'm perfect now.. there's a part of my life that I'm so down, I became atheist, but those experience made me as a person. it helps a lot to see the reality.. we are the author of our life whatever experience it is.
I have a 8 year old girl right now. I discipline her the way I know. sometimes I spank her BUT I'm making sure she knows her mistakes I explain it to her what's the reason and I never end up that she have hatred on me.. I let her realize the situation and after that, she's always sorry and we're like bestfriend
I don't like her to experience what I've been experienced when I was younger, it's worse.. millennial kids now are different.. I want her to be close to me till she got older and it's happening. I can say I'm okay now to my mother but maybe the impact of those experiences is we're not so close but nothing else, I'm grateful to my mom. She is Family whatever it is

Hi, thanks for inviting me!
I've rarely been spanked or like not at all for what I can remember, most of the time I've spent was in school or with babysitter as my parents work all the time, babysitter wasn't allowed to discipline me with physical punishment.
Teachers in kindergarten and elementary school did punish us physically sometimes, but not with spanking, not talking about this anyway.
I remember I was scolded some times by parents or others, I'm already sensible to words so I may complain a little first and maybe cry later...
I think any physical punishment should be avoided, especially spanking is humiliating...

This can be a touchy subject, but I believe in spankings, not beatings, there is a difference.

I was spanked only on instances where I did something that terrified my mother, like sneaking out of the house with my sister so she could meet a boy! Ha, we got it then. It was usually my mom who Spanked and it was only in the butt with her hand or a sandal (THE CHANCLA).

I do think it taught me a lesson of respect to my elders, I knew not to talk back, etc.

I went to private school and corporeal punishment was the st forum of punishment dished out because suspension would be loss of learning. And inschool suspension was not an option due to space. I am avoiding spanking at all cost you never know if cps will be call on your ass and if you go too far. My friend parents use to spank as a method until they got drunk got mad at her for some reason and her mother push her down the stairs (not big stairs) but still and she went and told someone what happens and they call cps she didn't ask if they could they just did. It turn into a big thing and now her parents never lay a hand on their kids after that. It better to be safe then sorry picture if you did got your kids taken away because you fuck up and did something like that to them? not worth it to me.

I don't think my parents ever did that to me, and I don't think its a good way to teach kids for anything

When you want to teach someone and even more kids something it needs to be related, or they may not really tie it the right way
Like "Stolen Candy" = "Slapping"
Is not a great way to teach them, as when they grow they may pick that they like spanking :P

Its better if they find something that is related to it, like for example "Stolen Candy" = "You don't get the next time the family gets something sweet" or the like when the idea is to find something related, that is close to the time of doing it
