Hey! OK so this is a big (and sometimes controversial) debate that came up in a class and its a topic thats come up in conversations with friends on how they were brought up. It's interesting to see how so many people view spankings as necessary discipline and a normal part of growing up, whereas others see it as a bad thing! 1) Yes but only if you give one for a really big mistake and not because your child bother you.

2) At least once a day, so often.

3) My mother the week and my father the week end (he was away all the week and only present during week end because of his work), No.

4) For my mother everything that bothered her (like me not eating the diner and complain that I was hungry 2 hours after when it's was time to go to bed or me not wanting to go to bed and play) For my father only when I didn't shut up.

5) Not with my mother because she over used it, was making me only worse. With my father it worked.

7) In my last years of middle school, I don't know, my mother was in a bad mood and spank me for a little stuff. I don't really remember.

11) I never cried for the spank, I cried when my parents didn't believed me, was deceived in me when it was my sister who was doing the wrong things and not me. It never hurted enough to make me cry.

Like I said I was only hurt by the things they didn't trusted me when i told them I did nothing wrong or when they didn't do anything to help me when my sister was hitting / insulting me. When they did it in front of everyone I was angry and searching for a way to make them pay for it because I was feeling humiliated.

15) On a last resort it's a good things but I think slapping is better. I never learned anything from a spank but from a slap I did. I am going of preface this by mentioning that my father spanked everyone in my house growing up: My mother, my sister, and myself all got spanked.

1) Yes. From my own personal experience it is effective.
2) Often. As I got older and better behaved I was spanked a lot less.
3) Never spanked by anyone but my father when I was growing up. My fiancé now spanks me from time to time both for discipline and sexually.
4) My father determined the offences that warranted a spanking, and they went from hitting each other, to questioning his authority, to doing the laundry badly (only applied to my mother), to getting bad grades (only applied to my sister and I).
5) Yes. Extremely. I would not repeat whatever it is that got me punished for a long time. The memory of the pain is dull after a while, so I occasionally would reoffend, but not usually.
6) My father would make us go over his knee.
7) I imagine you mean from my father? 18, and I don't remember.
8) It hurt, and stung for a little while after being spanked.
9) Never. Only ever used his hand. My father couldn't bring himself to ever use a belt.
10) It was always done bare butt.
11) No, not every time. But occasionally.
12) Both. He would get the two not being spanked to watch the offender being punished as to learn from their mistakes, so by the end of it you were pretty embarrassed. It was probably on par with if not worse than the pain.

1) Oh yeah. No doubt about it.
2) Very often.
3) Only my Dad. No one else.
4) Anything that made my Dad mad at me. Like being late to something, or not getting to the car on time in the morning to drive to school.
5) Yes and no. Sometimes I treat it like a trade. I get to do something, and he gets to spank me.
6) Yes. Most of the time my Dad makes me go over his knee, and if he is particularly angry, on the spot. Occasionally he makes me lean over something - it is the most suspenseful when he does it that way.
7) 15. And I am currently 15. I failed a Math Test - it was the lowest score I had got in my life around a month ago. For the most part, I stopped getting spanked at around age 13, but every two or three weeks I run astray of the rules these days.
