It's not females only, the whole generation kinda grew with those "thanks to" snapchat.
It's been normalized a lot so kids just crave that shit.
It's also a "Good" way to hide most of your face will still taking a picture, it brushes away most of your bad facial features under a silly/weird image.
Purpose of those filter really isn't to take good pictures, but to mess it up as much as possible on purpose so that you may not recognize yourself before posting it.
It kinda chases away insecurities for many children when posting pictures online.
Point being : I don't particularly care, if anything it allows me to see who's more insecure at first glance.

Why do so many males use pictures of their (?) torsos with the heads cut off? Or far-away pictures with a few guys so you don't really know which one he is? Women hate that too, but they still do it.
I think most girls/women use those filters either because they're a little insecure and it hides part of the face but they still get to post a selfie, or because they think it's fun. Most of the girls I know who use them frequently don't really like how they look. So, same reason men do those previously mentioned things, with the added element of fun.
Personally I hate thoes fuckin filters WITH. A. PASSION!! I have zero respect for people who use them as there images for job sites, dating sites or just about any other site where you need to be taken somewhat serious. Use professional photos where appropriate and save the kiddie stuff for your friends/family!!! 😠😡😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠

It really is stupid but that's the kind of stuff this generation finds entertaining and think it's cute. But I suppose we have snapchat to thank for that. I especially hate it when people ask how they look and have all those dumb ass filters on their face 🙄

I don't even have snapchat but my guess would be probably because they don't care if you find it attractive. Believe it or not women dont do things just so men will find us attractive.

They're funny. Nothing beats doing nothing with your bestie and smiling like an idiot while taking some weird ass snapchats. Also, if you're having a bad day and you're feeling ugly you can hide.

I've been wondering the same thing. I've started to conclude that they are just amazed by the technology or perhaps like clothing, makeup, and jewelry... just like adding things to themselves.
My realist hunch though, they think it's cute, know or think they're cute, so they add it to themselves thinking that they're being cute for doing so. Just a weird female trait like that chorus of "aaaawwwwweeee" when somebody brings a toad looking baby or a cockroach looking midget dog around.

The third poll option just seems mean for meaness sake. I had to resist choosing it, since those animal filters are so annoying, I mean you aren't an animal c'mon. I think it's to add a variation to their pictures. They don't want to post the same selfie types every time so they wanna changed it up a bit with them filters. And also some think they are cute and funny.

The snapfilters make girls look 'better' cause it smooths acne and blemishes and slims the face. Otherwise the girl thinks it's funny/cute.
I have no idea. It's an instant turn off and so annoying to look at. On the plus side it lets me know immediately that we wouldn't get along so I don't have to find out later. Huge time saver.
Because they have been taught to be "cute", or "sexy", as opposed to be intelligent. SO they're plastic and shallow with no real personalities.
