I was going to give a girl a ring for a christman present. The ring had diamonds in it was meant to be strictly a gift from me to her.

It could mean a bunch of things... I mean, as engagement, or just a promise of your love, or simply just a gift. I guess its how you approach her with it.

If you are like, I saw this, and it reminded me of how beautiful you are.. That is clearly just a nice thoughtful gift that expresses yourself

Or, You say, I got this because I want you to know that I am commited to our love, and I want to be with you forever one day, I suppose that is a promise ring. I'm no expert on that though, I have never recieved one of those. hahaha

and the engagement thing is pretty self explanatory...

I love rings, they are my favorite of gifts... in fact I want one this year too :)

depends on the relationship.. and if its a diamond ring or a ring with diamonds.

or just a nice ring (that may or may not have diamonds) just means you got her a nice gift of jewelery

I think it symbolized commitment. A co-worker of mine found a ring that her boyfriend was hiding & thinks he is going to propose. Rings & commitment go hand & hand.
