As a girl who considers herself a tomboy its because I'm not into all that traditional girl stuff. As a kid I always hung out with the dudes did sports (not full blown sports) and didn't take to girly clothing. I feel like now people might give that a different term as they have pretty much everything but it was meant to be known as girls, women whatever did similar activities as boys and stuff. Not wanting to be boys or dressing like boys just activities. She can categorize herself whatever she wants but in my opinion she might be more than a tomboy just by looks. A lot of tomboys don't try Turing themselves into males, they keep their hair, they don't really change their clothing/dress 'girly' when they want etc

Its re ally up to the individual if you wanted to know why she personally did it then the best bet would probably be to ask her yourself

There’s no reason why, maybe she just likes the style or she prefers dressing like one

So what? She is figuring herself out, as she grows up!! Be a good friend, and just love her, as your friend, and support her, while she struggles with finding her identity!
What if she wants to change gender? Would you still be her friend? I would. She's still the same friend, the same person, in many ways, just struggling with sexual identity, maybe? Those are the ones that need good, solid, trusting and caring friends, the most!!

Because it can be a fun choice or change. It's kind of annoying acting ladylike sometimes and instead of putting on proper clothes it can be fun to just say screw it, throw on a pair of blue jeans and a comfy shirt. Throw your hair underneath a backwards hat and just enjoy the freedom

Im pretty sure she became lesbian actually lol

Tomboys are just girls who relate to guys, and guy things better - usually due to having strong father figures, or lots of brothers, or only a brother / brothers.

We still wear makeup at times and dont mind a pair of heels. None of the tomboys I know, butch their hair. We might do some cute short styles, but we still wanna be girls.

I was quite the tom boy in high school. I preferred having short hair and I dressed a lot in flannels, over sized t-shirts and baggy jeans with holes in them. I did dress in skirts as well but not as often. For me I think it has something to do with me discovering 90s grunge bands in high school and listening a lot to them and dressing similar to how the guys in those bands would dress... I still dress that way but not everyday or nearly as often anymore. Different reasons for everyone though.

You were only right till like the last picture but anyway I don't like looking overly girly because I feel like an 8 year old girl when i do that but i don't go out cutting my hair short and dress like a man's man either

Dressing like a guy doesn't mean that you're not a woman. Its style.

@_Jay_ Unless the definition of tomboy has changed, that's not a tomboy. Tomboy usually look like girls, not boys.

I don't think you have to change your hairstyle to become a tomboy. I was a tomboy an still am a tomboy because girls ask too much question. Boys ask let questions. Being a tomboy does mean you have to dress and look like a boy.

That's not a tomboy. That's a girl who dresses and is trying to look more like a boy. Those are drastically different things
