What Girls Said
Roughly 3 squares with great quality TP. A tad more when I’m menstruating, which lasts no more than a day and a half bc I’m a bit fit. My daily panty liners catch my light bodily juices... I hate wasting.
How would different types/qualities of TP affect how much you use? Is it common to use a panty liner daily, and if so, why?
The sheets are thicker, of course. Prob equivalent to 8 low quality squares of TP.
I don’t know how common it is for the average girl to wear panty liners, but some manufacture seems to think so if they keep selling them. I like to feel clean and dry and odorless all day. Undetectable, easily disposable, adhesive sticking panty liners that move with me is where it’s at. Oh, yes! and they also offer thong-shaped ones. 🖤
But the abuse of wasted TP does tend to happen just as bad as liquid soap use. That’s why some parents resort to foam soap.
Again, more than I had considered. Do you feel/notice your panty liner? How might you feel if you didn't use one? Is it common for most girls to regularly use panty liners?
I can understand how a thicker/greater-ply TP would be different, but does the texture matter?
Softer and stronger and thicker JUST FEELS NICER
Do you ever feel raw from using too much or using lower quality TP?
I don't really know anything about panty liners, why they're used, when, or anything else.
If you treat your body like a dry erase board.
When it comes to the act of wiping, I plot. In a downward motion, gently but firmly. The quality of TP is insignificant if you have good technique.
Interesting. I assumed that girls simply wiped (rather than plotting or some other method), and I wondered how much friction would occur. What makes for a good technique?
I wipe-plot. Kinda like a massage therapist performs effleurage with one hand and twist your skin with the other. It’s two techniques combined into one.
Always in a downward motion to prevent a UTI.
Given I’m familiar with effleurage, that helps me understand a little better. I was curious to know how hard one presses upon her skin (or inward, especially with mucous membranes) and whether this causes any significant friction or irritation?
The downward motion is understandable, but something I don’t know is if wiping (and/or plotting) is performed just within the labia or if it is performed outside of that region? I’m not sure how urine might travel for a woman and whether or not it’s easily contained.
Considering how much pressure I use to pee will determine where it aims. Too much pressure will go somewhat side ways and spray wide if I had to really go. Sometimes I have to stop and tilt my pelvic down a bit and pee slower for better aim, as to not pee all over the place.
Really now? Can you tell how it will come out/where it will go depending on how hard you push? Does it typically come out as a spray, a stream, or what? I don't know how much aim a woman can have with this.
Huh? So you only have your monthly for a day and a half at most? Are you sure your not on birth control? And honestly being fit doesn't do anything to change your menstruation process nor being fat so I don't know if that's what your trying to say. I'm both fit and overweight dunno how to explain but I've got muscles but I'm really curvy to the point where it's called chubby. I'm sorry for asking all of this but your comment just made me wonder.
@SuzuBrooke Those are fair questions.
The female hormones estrogen and progesterone are important for overall body health. These hormones also regulate a woman's periods. Intense exercise and extreme thinness can reduce the levels of these hormones enough to prevent or stop monthly menstrual cycles. Sometimes my weight fluctuates and whenever I gain weight, my flow is heavier..
I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m thin, but I’m pretty active with little fat.
I say I'm more active then most people. Or girls. But to be exact I've had the heaviest most painful period out of all the people I talk to and exercising doesn't help it a bit so I'm guessing our bodies are wired differently in that way.
Although you are right about what you stated, from a physiological standpoint, it is NOT normal for a woman to stop having periods after starting (secondary amenorrhea). You mentioned multiple key conditions that affect the change in sex hormones (of which estrogen and progesterone are two that notably play a dancing act and regulate a woman’s endometrial lining/the shedding of it). By far, the most common cause for secondary amenorrhea is pregnancy. However, a thorough work up is necessary to assess for other potential causes (which can include other conditions such as thyroid dysfunction as well).
@SuzuBrooke Yes, women’s bodies are different from each other. If you’re having issues, I suggest discussing them with your healthcare provider. AUB (Abnormal Uterine Bleeding) is more common than you might think.
I mean they haven’t stopped but they’re light.. maybe I do have something internally wrong with me. Maybe an under active thyroid? I had no idea that could be why
But I have other reasons why I think I may have a thyroid issue..
A thyroid disorder is only one of many potential causes of AUB. The more common issues involve dysfunctions within the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Ovarian axis.
Oh, why is that?
Hair loss, was tired all the time. Maybe stress
Both are potential causes. This said, hyperthyroidism can manifest as stress/anxiety as well.
Mhmm.
Nonetheless, I’d urge you to contact your healthcare provider if these are concerns of yours. Neither I, nor others, can appropriately diagnose/evaluate/treat you through this medium.
Thanks, wasn’t trying to get a diagnosis here anyways, lol
LOL, you never know? There are so many here who seek such things. What’s sad is the inaccurate information that’s passed along. Some things are simple misinformation or myths. What’s scary is that incorrect/dangerous medical advice may be passed along and I worry that others may actually follow what’s said with detrimental effects.
Yeah, if I don’t go to the doctor, I’m not just gonna believe one thing I read in the issue. I hardcore research.
That’s where people get in trouble (when they turn to Dr. Google).
True.
How do you know what's "true" if you "hardcore research?" Without medically accurate information or the appropriate context to know what's involved/not involved, such things could be quite misleading.
It depends, did I just get 3 inch acrylic overlays on my nails? Then I use a lot to keep from messing up my manicure,
What a divine response
That makes sense, but I still don’t know how much you, or other females, typically use in various situations.
Lots
Why you planning on moving your girlfriend in and your worried about household expenses? Got a be a cheap bastard if that's the reason and I really can't figure what other reason one might need this knowledge but good luck on your inquiry.
I’m merely curious. We take certain things for granted. Activities that may be commonplace for one may be entirely foreign to another. I had been shy to ask.
Using this meme as a guide, I use the mit or the wad, depending
Craziness! I would have never known about how it might be held if not for you!
The Origami Crane seems highly unlikely, but it's cute.
It IS a meme, after all
Yes, a great one!
I use a good generous amount because as a female I got more to wipe also I wouldn't like if I had to use ess because I wouldn't feel like I was as clean much and I'm pretty shore no one wants to not use any at all.
What would be considered a generous amount? How would using less make you feel less clean? What is it like to use none at all?
A generous amount would probably be a whole role in two days depending on how big the role is also I would feel less clean because I would still feel like I still have more I need to wipe and I think the feeling of using non is probably a very gross feeling.
Interesting. These aren’t easy things to imagine given the lack of experience. For us (guys), it is so easy to shake and let centripetal force get rid of any excess urine quickly and without worry.
When wiping (as a female), is there a certain number of squares of TP that you feel is necessary to hold when wiping? How would wiping differ if you hypothetically used TP one square at a time versus using multiple? Also, how does the softness/roughness/sturdiness of the TP affect how much you’d use, and why?
I use 4 squares if it's durable/soft if it's thin/hard then I would just wrap it around how many times I need and if i used just one the paper would break.
How likely is TP to break? How hard does it need to be pushed/pulled to clean/dry oneself?
It depends how thin it is if it's pretty thin then it can break anytime if it's more durable then it can withstand.
How hard does one have to press inward to get the job done and feel clean/dry?
Usually 5-6 squares and I fold after I wipe and wipe again but it really depends like in the mornings for me sometimes discharge kinda gets in the way too.
Interesting. I hadn't taken that into account (let alone to consider how much you might have depending on the time of day). How would you feel if you tried using less?
I don’t know, for what I use it’s not that much but using less would make me feel as if there’s still more to wipe but it just depends on how my mornings are when I wake up and if I’m on my period or not too 💁🏻♀️
Being on your period is understandable. It's more that I don't have to wipe afterward, so the amount of TP used sounds excessive to me since I don't have the same parts to know what's actually necessary.
Very little I think.. I remember I checked during lock down.. and it is like 1 roll per month. For peeing I think I use 2 squares, and not much more for other stuff haha :D
Interesting, that seems to contrast quite a bit with some of the answers here. Why do you think others might use more?
honestly I think I pee and poop very 'efficiently', I also do not bleed a lot during the period so that does not add much. I don't get that dirty from it and so do not need a lot of toilet paper. Probably some use more than necessary just to be sure it is clean, and I risk a little dirt. Though I am cleaning a bit extra when seeing a new guy for example :D
Really? Why/how do you feel that you pee/poop more "efficiently" than others, and why might this be different? How do you change how you clean/wipe when seeing a new guy, and why?
I just use however much it takes to get the mess cleaned up. 3 squares or more is what I do, if it's less then it just means I didn't have much to clean up.
That sounds pretty reasonable. I still don't know why others seem to use so much more. What are your thoughts?
I would feel so gross using none at all but less I could deal with unless it's that time then I'd doesn't matter the gates of hell have opened and I'm protecting you now lol haha
Quite the humorous response. If the gates of hell were closed, and the world was safe for the time being, how much do you typically use each time? Why would you feel so gross without using any?
Because if I don't use any then when I got pee the piddle will get in my panties and dry on me. That can easily give you a rash or sometimes an infection not good. I usually wrap the paper around my hand twice and then wipe then do it again to make sure its definitely good and dry. But women don't just pee they also have their vagina cleaning its self all through out the day. So you have a little discharge. Its never truly dry down there or it would rub together to much and give you a rash. Plus what about when women get turned on which is pure instinct so we can't control it. then they need more because you have to clean that up to
I must admit that I hadn't considered the vaginal discharge factor in the equation. I wouldn't have thought about it if you hadn't mentioned it. Still, why wrap it around your hand than to hold it some other way? Wrapping it around seems like it'd leave a lot of TP unused and discarded unnecessarily.
I use the entire roll. Every time. Jk. But I wouldn't call this "topic" taboo. It's just not something a normal person thinks about all the time lol...
That poor toilet would need a plunger at all times! LOL. It may not be "taboo" for some, but it isn't readily discussed. I wouldn't know about such things unless it was shared.
I wonder if you getting your rocks off these answers lol gross.
You seem to be more interested in that. I've never been female, and I don't know these things.
So, we not a different species we no different than men. So how come your not asking men how much TP they use?
Because men don't wipe after peeing. I don't know what's involved for you when you pee or wipe, and I don't know if this differs for you each time you go or differs bewteen different girls.
Ew, you mean to tell me for your whole life you don't wipe after you piss. Dude that's not a dude thing that's disgusting you make me sick wtf lmao. Your parents should be ashamed of themselves that they never gave you shit for not being hygienic.
by the way in my family, men can't hide because the excuse is they don't know how to wipe or don't wipe so you have no excuse on why you don't do it.
LOL. You’re either facetious or quite unaware of what’s involved for guys when they pee. This may shock you, but WE (men) don’t wipe after peeing. We shake the excess out. Then again, I’m in the opposite situation where I don’t have female parts to know all that happens for girls. Given your views, haven’t you ever wondered why there wasn’t TP next to guy’s urinals?
