"women don't take care of men or treat them with respect anymore" - dude, while i do argue that women still treat men as a general with more respect than most men carry towards women even nowadays (just think of the catcalling that happens on the streets), there's still way more stay-at-home-wives who take care of the house, cooking and children than stay-at-home-husbands. women are still associated with the more nurturing jobs like kindergarden teachers, nurses (see how it's a female-word, where's the male equivalent? i'd lament about THAT if i were you tbh, where's the outcry of why men aren't as well-represented in these nurturing jobs?), while men are better represented in CEO-positions.
where's the soft femininity in women gone? you ask - it's still there, but we also had to develop a tougher shell because otherwise you men don't take us seriously at all, and take advantage of the kindness and nurture, the respect we give ad fundum. better question to ask would be "why are we still waiting on equal pay, rights, and hoodie designs?"
I think women used to be a lot tougher in practice actually, but they still cared enough to embrace femininity.
Ironically women now actually do pretty much no hard work in comparison and still manage to act more abrasively, especially towards men.
I think it's mostly a cultural shift where women has become falsely entranced in the life men live as if we all just go and do as we please, subjugating people without consequence.
Women have more and more been looking up the the worst parts of the male archetype. Instead of taking mens best attributes like honor and commitment they instead glorify the men who sleep around or abuse others as if it were a good thing to begin with.
A general trend of public opinion gradually moving towards a more equal view of the roles of men and women. Similarly men don't have to be as tough and work oriented as they once were.

It's a fantasy. Women were birthing babies without drugs and working hard. Think about it. Feeding the farm animals, baking fresh bread in wood burning stoves. Those women weren't baking bread for the fun of it and most likely would have jumped at sliced store break. In the large cities women were working at factories in the early 1900s 12 hours a day 6 or 7 days a week. Even small girls were working in factories and having injuries from sewing machines. Only the rich women had the option of being soft and gentle.
I found out one time that my gentle grandma shoveled manure at a manure plant during the winter one year to make extra money. My grandparents owned a farm and the great depression was no joke.
Judy Garland worked like a dog at the time of that picture. She was told she was fat and put on amphetamines which lead to a life long battle with addiction.
You also have to remember that what you see in the movies isn’t reality. My friend was telling me about his grandmother. She grew up during the depression. She married young, but her husband left her in the late 40s. She had to support her children on her own (she had 2). So she opened a bookstore.
I think that women will do what they need to do, in order to provide for their families. It’s almost impossible to live on one income today. So women will work. But stats say that they still do a large proportion of the household and childcare responsibilities. (It’s no wonder women aren’t soft!)
I still enjoy taking care of a man and treating him with respect because It'd be nice to get the same in return... just my opinion but the term "feminine" can have a certain meaning to one person but then could be pretty different to someone else's thoughts on whats feminine.. everyday and everyone's different in my opinion
Hm well... I mean... I know many many very feminine girls who had to give up or adjust that side of themselves because of dating pressures. Many women adjust themselves and mould themselves into what whoever they’re interested in sees as a “cool girl”. It’s not always the case, but it may contribute to that. Not to mention I feel like hardcore feminism seems to push women to turn into creatures with masculine features (determination, not being emotional or dramatic, resilient, strong, career chasing, ambitious) instead of praising the original feminine traits ( why isn’t motherhood being celebrated? What about caring? Gentleness? Tenderness? Sweetness? Softness and kindness?). But hey just my grain of salt!

I do wonder if such films were even an accurate representation to begin with realistically. We could say the same bout the men in those films, but no doubt the reality would have been less idealistic with cheating and abuse etc still going on.
I think they got a lot softer because they are not nearly as much willing to give birth.
