Yeah there's been a number of situations when I've been in the wrong, at the time I didn't realise at first, but then once I reflect on the situation I realise what an asshole I was and (most of the time) I apologise to the person directly.
And if not, it's usually because the other person is so sad/mad stuck in their negative feelings, I'm sort of worried about how they'll react and they won't think my apology is sincere, so I'll just keep the sorry feeling inside of me, and hope they realise that I am really sorry.

I don't disagree with what you just said. I think our apparent difference is just a matter of interpretation.
