Girls, what menstrual product do you use?

One amazing thing about this generation is the big range of options women have to deal with their periods. I am trying to learn about more and more options out there because I want to live my life to the fullest and a comfortable period product can make a huge difference. I am learning about different things that I couldn't ever imagine existed.

I mostly use disposable pads, I have a strong flow.
I've only ever used tampons twice and it hurt like hell. I'm not a virgin and I did everything right, but they bloat me a lot and give me awful cramps, so not really worth it.
My sister uses the cup and has marvelous things to say about it, such as the cramps are practically gone and of course the whole echological aspect, which is the most appealing to me. But she did said that, while inserting it, you may get a bit on your fingers if your flow is heavy and that grossed me out. I will probably end up using it in the future because of the envoirement, but for the time being I'm just waiting till I finish all the pads I have, which are a lot. One day my mom found a great discount and bought me packages for a loooong time lol

I too get the blood on my hand when inserting the cup, but it's no big deal, just wash your hands before and after.

I alternate between pads and tampons. I never used a menstrual cup. Normally, I prefer tampons because they're easy to use and they absorb blood better. They also come in handy for other things, such as nosebleeds. Some people might say that's ghetto, but it's true. You have to think outside the box sometimes, literally. However, I'm also heavily into fitness, where I run and exercise daily for at least two hours. During those days I exercise during my period, pads are more comfortable and work better.

That cup thing looks kinda interesting but if I tried to inquire my G. F about her preference, she would probably wreak havoc on me for at-least 2 months and after that it would be used as bonus point against me in fights.
That tampon thing looks painful and I would never do it in any case... I don't think its hygienic either cuz that's potentially one way for pathogens to gain entry in to Vagina.

Menstrual cup! I love it, a real game changer.

I'm surprised that so many girls here still use pads. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that where I live girls usually all use tampons, pads are mainly used by young girls who just got their period and who are still afraid of tampons or by people with heavy flow as additional safety measure. I think it's rare to find a girl above 14 who's still relying on pads only here. At least that's my experience among my friends. Maybe it's a cultural thing.

Can't stand using anything else as I feel like it's dirty for day to day life, for me personally.

I don't want blood sat in between my legs/ in my knickers all day, tampons are much cleaner. They also give me the peace of mind that I've not leaked.

Nope. Don't trust them personally. I don't like the idea of getting them in and then taking them out without it going everywhere 😂 I have no issues with the rest, I just wouldn't use any of them personally

So they're a cup, so instead of soaking up the blood, they just hold it - Whereas tampons soak the blood up.

I've personally seen a lot of spillage reviews where they've leaked or just overall not been great but I'm sure for other people they've worked - just not something I'd risk

Oh they definitely spill the first time, but personally when I got the hang of it it's no more been an issue, just dump the blood straight into the toilet.

I used to feel gross about the blood when I use pads because of the nasty odor but since I switched to cups I don't feel that way anymore because it doesn't stink.

Menstrual cups changed the game for me honestly. I don't like to bring a bag anywhere I go and with a menstrual cup I already have everything I need in my own coochie. Just wash it and reuse it. It's environmentally friendly and you also don't need a bin when you go to the toilet.

Just normal underwear with a built in absorbency area, like a pad but you just bleed into your underwear, then wash and reuse.

I strictly use tampons. When I first got my period and was still a virgin naturally a little nervous about anything going inside my vagina, I used pads for the first year and a bit. When I was at school one day and had forgot to bring a pad with me, my older sister gave me a tampon and I had no other choice but to use it. Immediately after I put it in, I was in disbelief. I couldn’t feel it at all. So much that I would totally forget even being on my period at all. It’s the best product ever made for a woman’s comfort. Pads or other products may be suitable for beginners, but eventually everyone should use tampons. They’re squeaky clean, leave no menstrual-related off-putting odor, and should be the number one go-to of any mature, classy and clean woman. I’m sorry, but pads are literally disgusting.

There are still many girls/women who don't have access to menstrual products.

I use pads and I will keep using them until I no longer have periods. Menstrual cups and tampons scare me and they would make me feel insecure.

Sure it was a bit of pain at first, but isn't that true for new things in general? I mean, when I got my first period and started using pads I was always leaking until I got the hang of it several months later. How different is the cup really?

Yes, but not all first time experiences are painful. I also had some issues when I started using pads, it took me a while until I figured out what size of pad I should use. I get your idea but I feel more comfortable with pads since they are not inside my vagina.

Pads , panty liner sometimea while having discharge. I can't use the tampon or mensual cup just because I learning disabilities and might need help with some tampons or mensual cup. In UK we don't have mensual cup.

You can use period panties in place of pantyliners for a reusable alternative. You can also wear pads with them just to catch any leaks.

If there are no menstrual cups in the UK you can order them online. I live in Bangladesh and no one even knows about the cup, I still have one.

No i do not use period panties. I just used pantry liner for discharge days, and yet I couldn't even use a menstrual cup or tampons. I used to have a pad called infinity form by the band always. these what I used on Heavey days. My mum is very cheap and doesn't like buying for expensive period product. also we don't period panties in uk.

They cost some trial and error, but they're easier than you think. They're not too expensive so you could try it out.

Menstrual cups take a little getting used to but they're awesome, they're a real game changer!
You can find lots of descriptions and advice on how to use them online, there are Facebook groups around menstrual cups, the companies who sell them have websites with FAQs and explanations and there's usually also a description inside if you buy one. If you want to try it it might be a good idea to find out how deep down your cervix is during your period.

How does anyone ever lose a tampon... what could happen though is maybe you have a higher cervix or a longer vaginal canal than the average woman so the tampon went so high up it is hard to reach, but it can't vanish!

@CubsterShura - I've never actually used a tampon before, but I've heard so many stories on the internet and from friends too, that have made me lowkey scared to use them. They were stories about how a tampon got stuck so far up that they had to go to the doctor to get it removed. And that would be so embarrassing for me xD But that might actually not happen to me 🤔I have a small vagina. But still I don't feel comfortable using them. I do understand why people use them though, it seems very efficient!
