This girl said she just wants to be freinds but when we hang out she's always finds an excuse to playfully touch my arm. When we walk somewhere together she walks very close by my side. Is it nothing or is there more to it?

Some women are flirtatious by nature. She might just be a touchy person. I tend to not touch if I fancy someone send wait for him to give a signal.

Take notice of how she acts with others and see if she displays the same behaviour. If she doesn't behave the same with others I would say there might be more to it.

Us women are just as hard to read as men are.

that sounds like the same situation my friend is in. He had a crush on a friend, they held hands, did all that lovely dovy stuff, hugged, etc.
The difference? He asked her out and all hell broke loose. But, the girl was a horrible person so I was not surprised.
Example, she despises men but still goes out with them, she has a sugar daddy aka she's a gold digger, she hates ALL of her female friends and will trash talk them, she cannot take any jokes period, and worst of all she will make friends with people and then at the end of the college semester if she feels like she will never see them again she will tell them how much she despises them.
