Question

Do you think society will ever evolve to the point where women don’t have to feel the need to be with others when out at night having fun? That we can feel safe enough from possibly being preyed upon due to being alone at night?

I've always wanted to go out on my own but whenever I try that anxiety and fear creeps in and suddenly I’m not to keen to go out anymore. I wish I didn’t have reason to feel this way.

The Biden Regime is to blame for making the United States of America more unsafe every day by enforcing an open border policy and by flying stone-age people into this country who have violent views and customs against women.

Living in a free society means dealing ever more with danger and uncertainty. The opposite is an Orwellian, dystopian society where there are forced curfews, biogenetic tagging and tracing, 24/7/365 surveillance, re-education camps, and basically a police state where everyone must ask the government for the freedom to do anything and to go anywhere---day, noon, or night.

Men are not impervious to physical assault while walking around alone at night. Many of them either carry very powerful handguns and/or very effective melee weapons with them, or they have effectively trained to physically defend themselves against at least one adult male assailant that is the same size as they are. Even so, a man walking alone learns to avoid various bad areas and groups of gangs. He also usually has a few male friends whom he can call for backup if he feels physically threatened.

Recommendations for women who want to walk alone at night

1. Join a gun range and get expert advice on which handgun (s) to buy for your specific self-defense needs; buy your handgun and ammo right away, and train to use it consistently. Learn about concealed carry and carry your handgun and some ammo with you EVERY TIME you are outside of your house.

2. Join a gym and train to become the fittest version of yourself possible.

3. Enroll in a general self-defense class that teaches situational awareness.

4. Raise your game by enrolling in at least two highly effective self-defense classes (one for hand-to-hand combat and one for boxing).

5. Join a wilderness camping group and venture out into the deep, dark wilderness at night with this large group of people. Make sure that it is a group of people who know what they're doing and who know how to keep everyone safe. Learn survival skills in this group. Get your body physically fit on these trips to handle yourself on long hikes on uneven and rough terrain, and to acclimate your mind to the constant fear of being in dark, uncertain, scary, dangerous, and unfamiliar surroundings.

6. Think about joining a small, gated community [NOT a cult or commune... haha] of like-minded citizens. This community should be set on hundreds of acres of land with its perimeter, trails, streets, and roadways under constant surveillance and constantly guarded.

7. Buy your own property in the wilderness for the specific purposes of camping, fishing, exploring, exercising, survival training, and enjoying the freedom of anyone walking around safely at night. Set it up with the help of your family, friends, and like-minded individuals so that you can all make this place a safe and effective harbor from a dangerous world and dangerous people.

No. Not really. Its actually not uncommon for woman to be victimized. When I look back on my life; I sometimes wonder how I made it out alive. When I was in college; it was night time and I was drunk. I was away from my friends grabbing my wallet in my car. I had to walk across a highway to get to my car. Once I was in the car; I locked it quickly. I then turned around and a man followed me to my car; was tugging on my car door; and telling me to open the car and let him in. Thank god my car door was locked. My friends walked out and were talking to eachother really loud not noticing what was happening. The man heard them and ran to his car and drove insanely fast away. That saved my life. Always lock your car immediately getting into it; also check the back seat of you car so no one is hiding in it. I have had many other dangerous incidents/maybe even brushes with death. When you are young you do stupid things and don't think about potential horrible outcomes of evil people. Its never the victims' fault; however; it would be so much better for girls and women to do different things to protect themselves from nut jobs. For the rest of eternity here on earth; there will always be men that try to victimize women. ALSO always check the license plate of an Uber before getting in. Check if it matches the Uber order on your cell phone.

Total safety is an illusion, preached by power grasping governments or those trying to sell you something. Safer is possible, and safest is the best we can hope to achieve. I think there are steps women can take to increase their safety and likelihood of having a good time without fear. Tell someone where you are going, what time you expect to be coming home, and contact them before leaving. Know where all the exits are, and keep a pathway to at least one of them visible at all times. Kitchens and open windows at ground level count as viable exits; kitchens because you can easily make a scene with lots of witnesses if you are being followed who can be counted on to be sober and neutral parties. Know what your safety limits are for drinking, and be more careful with that alone than with your friends, because you don’t have backup. Get some basic self defense training; many men are ready for the sudden shot below the belt, and after blocking it will be able to tell the law that you attacked first and they were defending themselves. The likelihood of being able to physically overpower even the average man is not very high for many women, so focusing on escape and evasion tactics would be more useful. This next one may seem a bit basic, but don’t go to shady or violent venues. It might be less exciting, but safety is more important. The same goes for dressing somewhat less provocatively alone than with friends; this isn’t meant to assign blame to either party it’s just a safety recommendation from some jerk on the internet who will be teaching his daughters the same when they get older. Life is danger, you can mitigate risks to an extent, but there will always be predators out in the wilderness. The people who assault women in the nighttime are those who are LEAST influenced by positive socialisation. A rapist KNOWS rape is wrong; they just do it anyway. The bitter reality of life is that nobody else will ever be more invested in your personal safety than YOU. "Society" won't fix this problem for you -- much as we may wish it would. To evade predators is to understand their mindset and how they hunt. Understanding the motions of a predator means leaving your lofty ideals of "societal goodness" at home. Predators are inherently ASOCIAL, and thus immune to socialisation. That's what separates asocial violence from merely anti-social violence. The latter is violence that escalates in predictable steps starting with social confrontation, and thus it involves an element of social 'performance'. Asocial violence is the whack on the head you never see coming: it's the hand grabbing you from the shadows. There's no social policy or political intervention or legal consequence on earth that would make the asocial predator choose to "behave themselves". All you can do is try your best to avoid crossing paths with one; and if you DO enter their crosshairs, you should be prepared to kill or grievously injure them (if escape is no option).

Tbh no where is safe anymore. Even going on vacation isn't safe. Another disturbing thing is being t home is not safe anymore. In my area they do a lot of home break instead, car jackings have risen, people stealing from stores and robbing people crime has risen. I feel society is at its breaking point with crime.

Sure. Really now it is even, depending on where you live and a host of other factors, relatively safe. On the flip side, even in the periods of lowest crime there is always some risk. However, at the end of the day, the relative safety or lack of safety will change with the times. In this, we have been here before.

The 1950s had been an era of generally very low crime rates. This born of the fact that by that time, the American public as a cultural whole was yearning for peace, stability and normality. From 1917 to 1953, the United States had been in an era of turmoil. Two world wars, the Korean War, the Great Depression.

To be sure, the 1920s had been an era of prosperity, but even that era, with the advent of Prohibition and the opportunities that presented to organized crime, was relatively turbulent. Throw is that the old Victorian and Edwardian social models had collapsed in the fires of World War I. America was prosperous and happy, but crime was something of a problem.

Put it all together and the American public yearned for tranquility and that cultural ethos had the knock-on effect of reducing crime as well. However, by the 1960s, people had come to take that peace and prosperity for granted. Rebellion and fighting conformity and "doing your own thing" became the model of the era, and this had the knock-on effect of increasing crime as respect for law and law enforcement - police were often called "pigs" - declined.

Specifically, the surge in crime was born of the theory, fashionable at the time as sociology became influential in the formation of public policy, that the criminal was not the perpetrator. This led to what came to be called "broken windows" policing. Basically a crackdown on smaller crimes, thereby lessening, over time, the incidence of larger crimes. Thus by the early 2000s crime again fell to levels not seen in the 1950s.

If you live in an area where you would need to walk a lot from the bus, take a taxi.
Don't cross a dark park to make it shorter. If you see a van parking, cross the road, and generally avoid passing a group of men at night. On a night bus, sit closer to the driver.
A self-defence course could be useful too.
As a girl you have to be careful and use your common sense. Forget about the whataboutism and the "they shouldn't attack", there are bad people out there. But you shouldn't live in fear.

Yea I totally get this. From the comments I can see that a lot of men fail to understand what it is like to walk in a females shoes. The constant fear that even if you are in a safe neighbourhood there will be a random car with a group of men that go past you and attempt to drag you in. Which can happen during the day if your walking down a random street and no one else is around. It’s the fear of living in an apartment and being followed home and having to turn and enter the key into your building like a ninja. It’s the fear of having to speed up as you cross a lane way incase some random dude drags you into the lane way,
It’s the constant fear of knowing you probably can’t get out or defend yourself if something were to happen so you have to constantly be thinking if something will to avoid it 100 percent because if you don’t you know your screwed. Very few men understand the constant small everyday anxieties that women go through.

Even going out with others or in groups isn't a guarantee of safety. There are reported cases of friends, or groups of friends, being attacked and raped or mugged or whatever crime.

You can always take some self defense courses, (I did) and do the best you can, like carrying a stun gun, and or conceal carry in worse case scenarios.

Granted there is better chances of safety in numbers.

Then again I can't say it has ever been totally safe, as even in the dark ages if a woman went out alone, and was raped or attacked she was blamed for being out alone as it was her own fault.

No. Safe spaces are a lie spouted by naive idiots. I'm a 6'3 man and I carry weapons 24/7 and been since I was a teen. I've been in more confrontations than most women so it's not an issue for just women. The title should be "will we ever live in a society without violent and sexual crimes?" Probably not. Men and women go out alone every night and don't get murdered or kidnapped. But still, it's always gonna happen.

People, in general, should be aware of their surroundings, and understand the risk they are taking by going certain places.

There is no way for you to be protected at all times. There is a certain amount of risk that people have to take everyday.

I mean I'm a large man, and I wouldn't go to certain areas alone at night. If you want to go somewhere alone, then it's up to you to protect yourself.

In the first world at least, it's not about society evolving regarding gender any longer.
A woman alone in deserted quarters, or anywhere at night, is as in danger as a physically weak man in the same situations.
So, I relate to that: it's scary.
There also are many places with astounding sights, or peace, such as desert shores, beaches, hill/mountain walkways... I'd love to go there, stay there on my own for hours even, but can't, because a mad person, or a feral animal, may come, and I would be unable to physically defend myself from an attack by them.
For all women it is going to be as it is for me.

No one is never truly safe. All we can do is minimize risks and hope for the best. It's a fact of life. It does not matter if you are a man or woman. We fool ourselves into thinking it's not the truth. But we are simply making a fool of ourselves by doing so. If anything people are luck when they can accept that on their own. Instead of having incidents in their life force them to accept it. I had have had several incidents through out my life that forced me to accept it and nailed it home.

Last one was getting hit by a guy screwing around with his phone when I was crossing the street in a crosswalk and I had the walk light. Wound up spending some time on life support, in a coma and going through several surgeries to deal with all the injuries. While I was in the coma everyone was talking about taking me off life support due to various reasons. So much for crossing the street at a crosswalk when you have the right of way being safe.

No, I don't think it ever will be.

Some people seem to think that if we just taught people, men in particular because it's most likely that your attacker will be a man, not to be violent then we can finally be safe, but this is a dumb idea.

A rapist, a mugger, a drugged-up/crazy person, a serial killer - they already know that it's immoral and they don't care. Those kinds of people will always exist and no amount of education will change them.

As others are saying also, men aren't safe either. Men are actually twice as likely to be violently attacked as women are, only it's more likely to be either a mugger or someone who just wants to beat someone up for whatever reason.

I think it's typically about as dangerous for men to go out at night as women. Being generally larger and physically stronger doesn't protect us that well from violent street criminals, for example. Fewer of us might be at risk of sexual assault but from the statistics I pulled up, more of us are victims of violent street crimes including but not limited to street homicides. I think we just tend to be less afraid of it because we're encouraged not to be and accept the risks.

I don't think it will ever be entirely safe for anyone, anywhere to go out at night alone. Yet we might be able to encourage women to become less afraid of the dangers and maybe encourage both sexes to learn how to arm and defend themselves and take necessary precautions.

It's not even safe out alone at night for men.

Men are not as confident out there by themselves as you think. We're more likely to do it because we're risk takers by nature, but we're certainly afraid of being snuck up on. Remember: men may generally be physically stronger, but a man's fist will not likely win a fight against a desperate thug with a knife or a gun. And our manly strength definitely cannot fight off multiple thugs at once.

Your best bet as a woman (since women are more vulnerable) is to plan ahead, take a more busy route, or at the very least, consider training to carry a firearm.

Everywhere is more dangerous during the day than at night. Most people sleep at night. Most crime happens during daylight hours when people are awake and out doing shit. You're more likely to get robbed, run into a crazed drug addict, be assaulted, etc. in the middle of the day. If someone close to you has plotted to kill you, that will more likely happen at night, but they already know where you sleep. The same goes with people that rape someone they are close to... They don't tend to just run into them while talking a jog at 5 AM. It's usually someone close to them that they are dating that has been invited into their home. You are just afraid of the dark. It's not rational in human civilization. If you lived where their were large nocturnal hunters in the middle of the wilderness it would make more sense, but you probably live in a safe suburb where you won't even see a person driving down the road when you go out at night 99% of the time.
