Women as a general rule are more attuned to social hierarchy than men are. Men see no problem with hanging around or being friendly to somebody of a lower social caste than them. They don't subscribe to the notion of social contamination as much. Men might say "Just because I hung out with this loser dude once or twice, that doesn't necessarily imply that we're alike, I just enjoyed his company for what it was.

Women on the other hand are completely incapable of thinking that way, of divorcing personal enjoyment from a social interaction from the sort of social implication that that association connotates. That's why you'll hear them say things like "Why do you hang out with HIM?" or "Where are your friends?" They have zero ability to assess people on their own merit.

Eh... Probably because they have more in common with each other. Not just looks but personality/character. Stuff like confidence level, experience level and so on. Imagine you could have two groups of "pretty" females and both groups don't like each other because of differences in personality. So it's not as simple as looks.

It totally depends on the person.

A pretty girl but with confidence who is comfortable in herself isn’t going to care if her friends aren’t as ‘pretty’ as her. She’s just gonna be friends with them because she likes them as people.

A pretty girl who isn’t comfortable in herself may have less than ‘pretty’ friends to boost her ego - or she could be uncomfortable in herself, yet still a nice person and keep those friends because she likes them as people.

Or a pretty girl who has a low self esteem could turn her nose up at having unattractive friends because she’s a plain bitch.

Or she may only have pretty friends because somehow that’s just how things have turned out.

Even that I guess some may feel less grouped if there is a diffrence for both sides like someone that may be consider ugly may pick not to be with one considered pretty as they may feel indimidated or out of the group kind of

it's not all but for those who are, it's b/c they're shallow.
they have totally bought into the concept of "beauty" as set forth by the sources to which they have aligned themselves.
ever notice how guys don't care? our friends are fat, thin, short, tall, rich, poor, etc. - yet the snotty/snooty girl cliques remain.
i always find it humorous that so many claim to be "equal in consideration" of friends but are not.
in short, guys don't care about the physical form. shallow women do.
i used to be frustrated by this issue; however, as i've aged, i've found it actually pathetic and even funny. nothing worth getting in a twist about. they'll all be old and ugly far earlier than their male counterparts. only too late they'll figure it out. after that it's too late.

I would say as a happy person that poor people and foolish people almost always reject me as a friend cause they are angered by my wisdom and my knowledge and my lack of worry. Like I had people reject my friendship cause I talked too fast or survived too many terrible things or used too many big words in my writing or was too ambitious for them.

This might be true with real close friends because of better understanding each other. Showing yourself with less attractive girls in the public has a lot of benefits but barely disadvantages, with exception some mediacore girls might be pissed that you didn't pick them as superficial friend, while they have tons of ambitions to present themselves with pretty girls.

Usually, two things make these pretty girl cliques pretty :
Money and maintenance of figure.

Let me tell you, both the factors are hard to follow. So even if an ugly girl were to end up there, she won't stay afloat for long!

Have you seen Mean Girls? Regina owns a friggin mansion, with impeccable taste and lazy set of parents. Her minions are the same. The only way Cady ends up there because they'd like newer entertainment system, that's all.
