Got really close and touchy with a girl that had been on and off with her ex boyfriend (it’s an on and off break cycle for over a year). We would get touchy and she threw a lot of attraction signs… when she was broken up with her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend recently came back when I asked her out, and she said she wishes we could stay friends as she wasn’t looking to meet anybody right now.
I know typically this means she’s not interested, but the signs where there from physical touch etc, before the ex came back.

She wants you as a friend and she’s not willing to let go of her ex. This may be because whatever sparks she may have received from her ex was so great that her mind only will focus on how she felt happy with him and expects things to go back to normal.
Don’t focus on her romantically if she clearly isn’t 100% focused on you. Or anybody for that matter. This definitely calls for bad timing and this is okay. Let’s say, situationally this boyfriend of hers never happened. You come along, she likes your attention then bam! Next thing you know you been dating for years. Timing plays a big factor and when I say that I mean her timing in her life. Just because you developed feelings over time doesn’t mean it’s great timing for her.
Staying friends is cool and better than nothing. It might suck at first but, guess what homie? You didn’t really lose anything at all really. You were just caught up in the thought not gaining anything. Friends might even sound neutral but it is always a plus! Who doesn’t want another friend? Not me. This means that she’s keeping you close enough not to let you go because she respects you and could possibly hit you up if shit hits the fan.
If we lived in a world where the word friend really meant friend we would all be friends holding hands around the world. Fortunately, we have free will to determine what a friend is and how much. Women believe men can be friends can of course both can have nice platonic relationships without having sexual relations. Most men don’t really care for having women as friends in and it’s nothing personal guys are cooler more daring, competitive, sophisticated. Most people stick with the same sex when it comes to socializing it’s where we feel the most comfortable. Woman love having straight male friends because they trive, they live for attention even amongst themselves but why not get some validation from a guy friend to feed their mental boner
1. You should have seen from the begnning - that you were just the temporary distraction while she waited to resolve things with her ex. And maybe she even used you to make him jealous. SOMETIMES, girls in that situation are ready for a jump and hump, but if you are looking for a relationship, stay the fuck away from a girl who hasn't resolved here last breakup.
2. Asking you to stay friends is what she is doing to try not to feel so guilty about using you, and perhaps she wants to kep you in the wings as her backup plan.
3. But suppose the ex fades out of the picture. No man with balls would settle for being with a woman only because she couldn't have the one she REALLY wanted.
4. Grow some nads, tell her you're not willing to be her little friend on the sideline, and you're gonna go find a woman who actually wants you. Then walk away. Three months from now, you will feel much btter about yourself if you do that!

Maybe so. But one of the greatest things you can do for your self-confidence is to walk away from an easy score when you know it is the right thing to do. Lke when I turned down the married woman who I worked with and at the end of the shift, she asked if she could go home with me and fuck my brains out. told her to go hom and work on her marriage. That was over 40 years ago and I'm still proud of that moment. . . and she and her husband are still married.
