Women of GAG, do you feel entitled to a man's protection?

Question

Do you feel like men are obligated to protect you? Say hypothetically you're on your own walking, someone attacks you, and a man happens to see it, do you feel entitled to his protection?

As the person who had to do the rescuing in a grocery store parking lot when a man started attacking a woman in her car with a crowbar (presumably her boyfriend/husband), I can tell you, it absolutely sucks to see that so many people could see and hear this happening and did literally NOTHING. I was the one calling 9--1-1 and running as fast as I could to fetch a manager and some grocery store staff to help me, so I think it is the job of humanity to see something and help even if you can't physically do it yourself, there are other things you can do like call 9-1-1. Of course no one is obligated to help and you sure as hell can't depend on a stranger, man or woman, to do anything...clearly, look at the scenario I found myself in, but I would hope that if the situation were reversed and a man/woman happened to be nearby, that someone would try and offer me protection, or save me, or whatever because its what's right. We don't allow our community to hurt one another and sit by and watch.

No not at all. But I feel entitled to my future husbands protection. Because I give my side as a woman. The protection is a big part from him.

However I believe men who care about anyone smaller than them will protect them.. its natrual. So my male friend is overprotective of me too and thats how he shows it and I help him in other ways so I kinda feel entitled to his but not from strangers

These days the criminals have better protections than the victims and definitely those willing to put themselves in harms way to help a stranger. You want to fix that? Start getting rid of these insane DA’s that view people who hurt others as the real victims.

I don’t feel entitled but I feel it’s the right thing to do & that’s for anyone not just a man. Like call 911, get help, if a guy has the balls stand up for the girl. It’s just ethical & the right thing to do. Like if I saw a man getting beat on by a woman I would try to help or if I saw a kid getting lured or anything dangerous I’d help. I don’t think it’s about gender it’s about doing the right thing. Yeah gender is a huge political issue but we gotta help & protect each other regardless of gender, status, or age

No, I have no expectation of anybody. I would hope that if someone saw they’d at least have the decency to call for help. But other wise, I wouldn’t really want someone to risk their selves for me. I’ll figure it out myself or end up in my grave if that’s my destiny.

And if it's a matter of strength, I would feel safer if my man would jump in there first to protect me but I will still fight and try to do my best to protect myself and him too.

I would hope anyone, man or woman, that sees another person getting attacked on the street would help in some way. No one is entitled to someone’s protection, but if a guy sees another guy attack a woman, he’d probably help her out.

entitled? never. and i grew up in the inner city fist fighting from an early age, i did pretty good two years ago broke a guys nose who tried to drag me to his car. he was bigger and taller but sure couldnt take a headbutt to the nose.

No not at all. As a matter of fact I don't ever count on that because men come and go and in this world women have to look out for themselves. So no I don't feel entitled to a man's protection. Honestly I don't even really wish for it.

Depends on what country... because in the U. S., they've got the protection of the government, justice system, Title 9 and AAction. Any MORE protection and they'll be more tightly guarded than the President.🙄Which is ironic, because women in places like El Salvador NEED it... and don't clamor for it nearly 1/1000th as much.👀

I don’t feel entitled but I do think it is the right thing to do to step in and help, whether it’s a man or a woman needing assistance. A lot of people just don’t have the stones to get involved. It’s why I have a concealed carry license.

I don't feel entitled. Would it be appreciated? Definitely! I've been in situations where someone didn't help because they were so scared to. That's ok. Sucked for me but I also understand why some people refuse to help.

Is he MY MAN? If so, yes if he’s aware. We aren’t entitled to a “man’s protection” simply because we are women. As a human, I’d hope any Male OR Female witness would call authorities.
