She is super rude sometimes and after that she tells me that she was on her period as an excuse... How should I react?
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI depends on the individual woman, some have easy periods, and some have difficult painful periods with moods to match, I have four sisters, one had very easy periods, two that had what they said were 'normal' periods, and one who had really bad painful periods because she had endometriosis which were accompanied by really bad moods, with a tendency to be rude and snap at every one.
I've also had 'girlfriends' who have used the "I'm on my period" excuse for being bitchy, as you can imagine the were not 'girlfriends' for long because having my four sisters I'd learned to spot all the signs of a woman being on here period. If I were you I'd start paying attention to the calendar and watch for when she uses the 'period' excuse, the average menstrual cycle is 28 days long, but cycles can range from 23 to 35 days, so if the dates of her 'period' are all over the month then she's probably using it as an excuse for a shitty personality.
Or if she is on the contraceptive pill may cause some side effects, mood changes or loss of libido in some women.
Which ever, it is up to you to decide if you want to put up with the attitude.

+1 yI knew one woman like that. I reminded her that if the relationship were to proceed, it would entail that 25% of my time invested with her over the ages would be spent walking on eggshells or facing the consequences. As the former was absolutely not going to happen and the latter was intolerable, she could either fund one week per month of private travel for me or she could be an emotional adult, grow the F up and take accountability for her actions. She apologized, said she understood my perspective and it wouldn't happen again. She did better for a month, got bitchy again, so I dropped her, as I'd originally said. I do wish her well in the time since.

+1 yNo if someone is aware of being in period and due to that changing in mood then they won't be simply ok with it but would try to control it or would warn you in advance before making any such rude comments even.
Being period is not at all excuse.
Yes women do have harmonal mood swings. They sometimes do act indifferently but when they do they are not much aware of what she is doing and feels guilty and responsible for her act later on.
If someone gives such excuses they are simply trying to get away with the responsibility of their own actions and it's no way acceptable.
From where I see, she is just getting toxic with you and trying to go away with such lame excuses.00 Reply
Some women have worse periods than others. It really messes with your emotions (some women get really sad, others angry, etc), it makes your body tired/lethargic and can cause intense pain. That said I think you should give her some grace as being on your period can cause worse behavior without her meaning to act in a certain way. If she was particularly rude/nasty she should apologize. It isn’t hard to say that hey I was on my period, I didn’t act appropriately and I am sorry. You might not get that apology until after it is over. If you don’t get one I would sit down and talk to her about how you felt that way you can both express your feelings and hopefully move past it

You're telling me that women actually apologize? That's news to me lol

+1 yIf this is a pattern, is it once a month that it happens, right before her period comes? If it’s all the time and she’s just using that as an excuse, you’ll know it isn’t her period because PMS will happen for a small window every month before the period comes. I know a few days before mine I become extremely emotional and am very easily annoyed by things and I try to control it the best I can. But if she is being verbally abusive and just using her period as an excuse all the time, she is probably using that as an excuse to treat you how she wants. If it continues, I’d give her an ultimatum.

+1 yIt depends. Sometimes, it really is our periods. I hope this is not TMI, but I can always tell when I'm about to start my period because about a week or so before, I become super irritable, develop cravings, start bloating, gain weight and my voice gets lower making it harder for me to speak (I have a voice disorder). But it is a consistent pattern and only lasts 3-6 days with about three weeks of me being normal and happy inbetween. If she is moody every day, she might just be using it as an excuse.

+1 yI’ve only had one EX girlfriend do that. She was the most toxic of all the girls I’ve ever dated.
Periods happen and people can be more emotional and more irritable during that time — but if she’s justifying instead of apologizing for her rude behavior after mistreating you, that’s a big red flag.
A girlfriend having her period should never use that as a free pass to treat their boyfriend like sh*t.
Just like it’s not okay for a boyfriend to treat his girlfriend like sh*t after a bad day at work.12 Reply- +1 y
In terms of how to react, I believe it would be good to sit down and have a talk to help her see and understand that it’s not okay to use her period to justify mistreating you, that when she mistreats you on her period it’s only right that she apologizes for mistreating you. Just like if you were stressed out and had a bad day at work because your boss was being an a**hole. That’s out of your control. But still, it wouldn’t justify mistreating her, would it? If you were to mistreat her in that situation, you would owe her an apology. And whenever she mistreats you during her period, it’s only right for her to owe you an apology. If she values the relationship and respects you as a person, she’ll understand.
- +1 y
Be patient with her though. During a woman’s period, their head is clear sometimes and other times not. Be patient, and she’ll eventually come to. It may even be after her period is over that she apologizes. But if she was truly treating you like sh*t during her period, she does owe you an apology.
+1 yI think, like with most things.. it explains why it happed, but it doesn't excuse it.
It's each of us our own tasks to control ourselves. Everyone has holes in their character, we should all be working to improve all the time.
For example with men who get blackout angry, it's their responsability to have themselves under control. They can say it was because "bla bla" and it might explain it, but not excuse it.
Her period is an explaination that puts things into a perspective that may make it more lenient, but ultimately she is responsible for controling her being.00 Reply343 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. That's a tough one. I am lucky in that I had easy cycles and of course it's different when you're pregnant.
Those cramps can be really rough and pain is something that takes a lot of psychological energy to deal with. Most of us are ignorant of our bodies and I find out more every day. It's amazing we make it through as well as we do considering how much of our machinery is dedicated to reproduction.
I think that's the biggest fail of modern feminism. We aren't men and we have major differences that ARE important. One just happens every 4 weeks or so.
00 ReplyTo start with I believe love is never rude... while I don't claim to be the expert on female menstruation, I know your woman, sir, is not the first to go through a bad period. It is very likely she's just immatured and hasn't learned how to handle herself with courtesy.
On the other hand, I also know that during our hard times is when our crudest emotions come forth... it is very likely that your woman doesn't respect you... this feeling shows when she's at her lowest, her bad period. For whatever reason this may be I don't know... I suppose it's left to you to find out...00 Reply
+1 yIt doesn't work much if you started off having aex wjth her on her period for the first 6 months.
But this is not the actual problem.
The correct problem is one of two things:
she's lost interest in the sex has the lust isn't there anymore, and tve relationship isn't fresh
Or she's sees you less desirable then before either because she mad at you, she cheating, or she bored.
You can protect yourself a lot against the 2nd by not falling for her tests, by giving her full ranve of emotions, calling her bullsbit out, and making it obvious thst you will leave if she fucks up and wjll noy be the petson to forgive her when you shouldn't becajse she knkes you can quickly get zomeone else01 Reply- +1 y
To be fair, though, some women produce more hormones, and their receptors are hignly more receptive, meaning all those hormones latch on and are actually used.
But by amd large, menstruation is not an excuse to be in an ass to toy
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWomen have periods , some more often then others , hormones fluctuate just before and during and after. There is no excuse for consistent poor behaviour or consistent disrespect. Where Communication is concerned surrounding this I would highly suggest you attempt to bring it up suggest ways she can try communicating with you more appropriately, bring frustrated is not a good enough reason to speak to you without concern for your feelings and wellbeing. A BIG flex in this is to come at her when talking with a solution to assist- it will show that you put thought in to what she may be feeling at them times when speaking to you in that manner but also that you want to help. You could try getting her fav cool/hot drink , give her a little bit of attention that she likes or craves ( what ever that looks like) and just try to reconnect and talk about it. Good luck

+1 ymenstruating can indeed cause more moody behaviour and mood swings. Since a lot of it is hormone based. Unless she's using it constantly, you should react by not reacting to it. If you want to date women, that's a monthly (if regular cycles) part of it.

only irritability and tears but words are choice.
- +1 y
^^(Not to OP and OO, you’re guys are angels) Bro you are a MAN. Words can be deliberate choices but think about being in pain, she probably not even paying attention to what she saying or the tone she says it in, as that’s a secondary issue to her. She should pay more attention to how she treats people, but do NOT dumb down periods to “irritability and tears” 🙄 Men will never know, and only women/people with periods should really answer this question. I think she should see a doctor and apologize to the OP, but for God’s sake don’t try doing that “women are dramatic” thing.

My bad for the typo, I meant you in the parentheses 😭
+1 yChrist. It's NOT an excuse and we get it every month. It's a rough time for a woman and you feel like crap. Bloated, pain, cramps, bad mood. You should react like a normal human with an ounce of a brain and back off. If YOU weren't feeling well, would want her placing demands on you and being selfish?
10 ReplyJust like other people had said, if it’s once a month that she’s being rude, then it’s an excusable reason. But if she’s rude to you 24/7, 7 days a week, then you should sit down and talk to her about her being rude. Because if you don’t l, she’ll think it’s ok.

+1 yAn excuse for what, being rude or not wanting to do it ?
If it's the first, then no, it's not an excuse. I've already had bad PMs where I just wanted to blow things up but I never once disrespected anyone. I may be more direct than usual or have a no bull attitude but never blant disrespect.
For the second, I would say it depends. Not all women like to do it during that time. That's my case so, having a guy pester me can make me mad angry. It's just a few days, you can wait it out until I feel cleaner and more in the mood.
So it depends on why she's rude being rude.10 Replyhaving your period while makes you feel bad, physically and emotionally- doesn't give her license to treat people rude.
she's uses it as an excuse because you accept her childish behavior. next time you have blue balls act like she does and see how she likes it.

+1 yPeriods are hormone based and they can cause increased mood swings and irritability. I would consider it an excuse if it’s a once in a while thing, but if she’s constantly using her period as an excuse for her moods, then no it’s not an excuse.
00 ReplyTell her that’s the cool thing about sex with guys, no periods, no pregnancy scares, they have a sex drive to match yours, & won’t get emotions wrapped up in their twat — as you casually grab your keys & slip out in the car to the park-n-ride to get some much needed head.

+1 yShe's POSSIBLY experiencing hormonal fluctuations (NOT for certain) which place increased emotional sensitivity. Consider how YOU'D be if you were 'damned' to experiencing a progressively bleeding internal wound 3-5 days EACH month for much of her adult life, yet expected to honor all society's commitments WHILE maintaining 'civility'!
'Normal' is a vague term for a BROAD spectrum ;)00 Reply- 773 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic.
+1 yYes it is, welcome to being a man and having a woman.
There isn't much they can do about it. She can try techniques to manage better, exercise, etc... There are things you can try to do to help. Nothing is really going to work consistently, you'll have to take it as it comes.
Have more questions, lmk.
00 Reply No it's not. Look, I get that a woman's body is her worst nightmare in that time frame. I am not disregarding that at all.
HOWEVER, that is no excuse to treat your boyfriend like crap. She's gotta do a better job at controlling herself when she's on her period. And if she can't do that, then you gotta leave her, plain and simple.
00 ReplyI think it depends to be honest. Me personally I have bad periods and it causes a lot of pain and sometimes irritability. Sometimes if it’s really bad it can be difficult for us to move around or do anything. Some girls may actually be using it as just an excuse, but some really do have problems.
I hope this helps x.
Have a blessed day

+1 yOk I'm a female myself and I don't think being on her period is an exsuse for her being mad yes we have mood swings but I don't think in my opinion that would be an exsuse for why she's mad Maybe she isn't happy or something is going on with her try and talk to her if she uses the same exsuse Everytime she's mad then there's wrong there periods only last a week everyone month so try and talk to her and try and figure out what's going on
10 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. It is normal. The hormones cause that. Funny things it's actually from having too much testosterone during that time of the month. Only time that women act similar to men and y'all can't seem to handle it 😂
21 Reply- +1 y
So therefore it's also normal for men to use their boner/hormones as an excuse to be a perv?
If that's what you assume on men then I can also just say that when you're on your period that's the only time you would feel like what men feel. We've been holding back the whole time.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yId say its normal. I don't know, Im usually pretty kind, but during that time of the month Im either snippy or Im crying about something insignificant xD
I dont think its really an excuse to be really mean or rude. Like, you can check your emotions, or just tell the person you're in a mood at the time.

+1 yShe probably isn't using that as excuse. They do have them once a month so you should just chill out. But if you like just remember try and remember what date is it when she has it, because normaly they have them around the same date every month. Unless she's unregular. Which means she has it whenever, but still once a month. Give her a break dawg. Don't get her mad over it or you'll be spending a lot more time in the bathroom...
00 ReplyI don’t know how old you are or how much experience you have with women, but not all women like to have sex while they are on their period or just before or just after some think it’s gross and disgusting male and female talk to her but there’s not really any need to get upset until you know the whole story there’s about 20 days left in the month where you can go out at all the time if you want if she’s up to it and some women like having sex on Their periods, but not all
00 ReplyMood swings are common when women are on their periods. But if she is super rude all the time then she is lying. You should understand that rudeness is her basic nature. It's upto you can you handle her or not? If not leave her. If you are super cool then you can ignore her rude behaviour. If your super rude too then leave her and find a cool, calm and composed girl.
10 ReplyYes very much so. Generally speaking , when a person who has a great personality and character, they act very much different in a way of pain or sickness and generally are rather pleasant to be around still yet. Those women who use it as an excuse are usually treating you as utility.

40 ReplyI mean it all depends on her mood everyday and I think she can’t really blame everything on her period. She should be open about it from the beginning saying something “hey I am on my period. So you can expect me to be rude, on the edge or irritated/irritable.”
00 ReplyCrazy every girl I’ve been with didn’t tell me they were on their period and we still got it in and she always apologized afterword when I noticed the massacre. With this new girl she told me no sex because of her period and I told her straight up that never stoped any other girl and she gave it up lol but I think she was mor embarrassed than not wanting to have sex. If she’s using it as an excuse for her mood it can be an excuse but you see the real mood switch when they’re pregnant
00 ReplyI don't think it's normal, if she use it's as an excuse. She might be feeling off during those times. You should understand her and do something special for her. Me personally with the person I love I wanna do it all the time even when I'm on my period.
