Why would a group of girls stare at a guy?

This is happening with a three groups of girls at my college gym. Every time I walk by them either all of them stop talking and stare or go quiet, or one of them stares. This happens with three separate friend groups.

I don’t understand since I don’t think I’m wearing anything crazy, or have something odd about me. My friends who go to this gym don’t have this issue.

Last night I walked by a group and all 4 girls got quiet and stared as I walked by. Later on, I saw them looking at me from far away.

What could it be? This happens with more friend groups at the school gym.

Honestly dude, they're probably just checking you out! Girls do that stuff all the time at the gym cause there's a lot of fit/shirtless guys around.

Even if you don't think you look crazy buff or anything, they might still think you're cute. Like girls notice that stuff way before guys do.

And the more they see you there, the more they've been able to check you out and appreciate the results. They probably talk about how much progress you've made and debate if you're single, haha.
