A lot of women in their 20s and early 30s have this idea that men need to make 6 figures to be worth a damn for LTR/marriage. Do you think this pressure on men to be financially successful to be attractive to women is delusional on women's part?

What do you mean delusional? Why would they be delusional? Are there no men making 6 figures or more? Yeah there are so what are the delusions you talk about? Expecting to only date a real life mermaid king would be delusional because that doesn’t exist. Men with high income exists, and there are a lot of them too. So not delusional. Someone isn’t delusional just because they have standards that YOU don’t meet. If a woman will only date men making 6 figures or more then that’s her choice and she is free to have that standard. It’s non of your business. It doesn’t concern you. Date women open to dating someone like you, don’t date at all or change enough so that you meet more womens standards.

The average modern woman expects to work as many hours as the man, then come home to do 90% of the house chores and childcare. The very few women who do claim they want a man who makes 6 figures is delusional, but I certainly haven't heard any women say that.

There is some traction to what Lazer is saying, Asker. Most women today are still burdened with more than 60% of home chores and child care. But there are many young women who don't want to or expect to work long hours. There is a significant minority who want to sit on their butts and do little to nothing. THe six figures guarantees there will be a nanny and maid so they can live lives of leisure.

THIS is what is delusional. There are some men making six figures. But those men are probably in the percentage range of men taller than six feet: 14% of the U. S. male population. So, what's the likelihood that these women will find these men when 86 of the 100 men a woman meets will NOT pull in six figures?

And I'm not counting out the 15% of men who are gay and are not candidates at all. Therefore only 12% of these men (subtracting the 2.1 percent of the 14% who are gay). And again, there are other limits. Some will be too old or too young to be considered. We haven't even considered if you could stand each other either!!!

Some women do pull it off, and for them, it’s not delusional. I’d say there are several factors involved as to how that can happen, but it’s not a game plan I’d recommend to most women, especially if they’re looking for a successful long term relationship based on love and respect. Because a man with 6 figures can still be worthless as a boyfriend or husband if he’s disloyal or narcissistic (as many wealthier guys are).

I've been looking for a job for awhile and the pay for my field runs from about 60K to over 300K.

Market is important. Agreed, $100k doesn’t mean as much in New York City where a shoe box apartment will eat half your salary and you’ll never own a house. I’ve seen the girls filming their TikToks on Rodeo in LA, and you know those street polls and surveys aren’t happening in Detroit or Omaha.
