Well yeah its pretty obvious that when someone describes a characteristic that they like in a potential partner, it's with the presumption that they also already find that person physically attractive to a certain extent. Obviously when a guy says he wants a good woman, he's not saying he wants a good, ugly woman. He's talking about a good woman that he also likes to look at.

I think that for a younger woman this is true but as we get older the preferences change. Funny men are great, being able to laugh with each other was a standard of mine. Still, there are bigger qualities that being a funny guy won’t fix, and aging means learning how much more those things matter.

In some cases I agree that a woman can be misleading about her wants but honestly she may not even know what they are yet, which is why I think this logic applies mostly to younger women. If you approach a woman in, let’s say, late 20s (like 27+) and upward, finding a man with a great sense of humor is amazing but what else does he bring to the table? What are his qualities? Is he funny but also a jerk? Funny but has no job and lives at home with his parents? Funny but incredibly shallow and demeaning? My point is that humor can’t be all he’s bringing to the table, so while a younger woman may focus on looks, someone older will care about how he can contribute to her life as a team.

If their older peers aren’t teaching them to be smart then they have to get through that journey to intelligently dating on their own. I’m most cases they are adopting qualities from their inner circle, which sucks because they’re also going through their first experiences with men, it’s like the blind leading the blind.
