If a girl is making strong eye contact and smiling and then takes a step back while still smiling / eye contact. Is that disinterest or did they get shy / self conscious?

Did the smile seem genuine? Were the corners of her eyes wrinkling? Also, just ask her straight up if you made her feel uncomfortable and apologise.

It was genuine. Last time I saw her she was also smiling and adjusting her hair. I will definitely ask next time tho , i thought I made her uncomfortable / disinterested so I ended the convo asap

My advice always is to never just try to guess what someone else is feeling and rather talk to them. Sometimes we draw incorrect conclusions.
