Is it normal for an 18F girl not to mention her boyfriend ever?

We're relatively good friends but don't hang out together outside of class. She has never mentioned anything about her boyfriend, but after following her on Instagram I found out she had a boyfriend from an old highlight from a year ago. I also found videos on her TikTok from around the same time featuring a guy who was clearly her boyfriend. They are most likely still dating as they follow each other / each other's family and friends and also the highlight/videos still exist. But up until this point, I've never heard any mention of him? We've been talking for about 1-2 months in class.

Hmm that is kinda weird that she never mentioned her boyfriend before. A few possibilities:

- Maybe they're going through a rough patch and she doesn't want to talk about it yet. Long distance isn't always easy.

- Could be she's not that serious about him and isn't like showing him off on socials lately either.

- Possibly ashamed of him for some reason and doesn't want people knowing.

- Some girls just don't like broadcasting their relationship status a lot either.

I wouldn't assume anything bad yet. But next time you guys are chatting, you could try bringing him up casually. Like "oh I think I saw your boyfriend on TikTok the other day." See how she reacts and if she opens up about it.

If she gets defensive or tries to change the subject, that would be kind of a red flag. But she also may just not think to mention him to classmates. Give it a little more time and see if you find out more. Try not to overthink too much for now bro!
