Of course they did. Everyone wants to hear the truth it doesn't mean they can or will accept it. Generally this type of conversation goes a bit like this. "Hey do you think I look fat in this?" "You look a little bigger than normal" "ARE YOU SAYING IM FAT" if you are going to tell her the truth you need to do 2 things. 1 you have to make sure she is 100% positive she wants the truth. And 2 you need to tell her that if you tell her the truth and she gets upset or mad the conversation is over until she calms down and can talk like an adult. And then you stick to it. Otherwise don't even bother just tell her she looks lovely and you are so happy and hey look how beautiful it is outside do you want to go for a walk lets go enjoy the weather
