Why are women allowed to relentlessly flirt and touch at work?

A girl at work said hi to me, wrapped her arms around my arm, her hands on my arm, and she basically hugged and ran her hands around my arm. She said "hi sweetie!" To me.

The girls do this to eachother. They do this to the guys too.

But guys are never allowed to do such a thing. I mean, at least, we don't. We are all justifiably afraid I would imagine. Also, we aren't women so we tend to stray away from feminine things that women do.

But either way, men aren't allowed to say hi sweetie with a hug and a run my hands on your arm to a woman. That would never ever be appropriate unless you and the girl had established that kind of relationship previously.

It's OK. It's nice. I don't mind that the girls touch me and they're sweet to me. It's just funny how only they can do it.

You are absolutely right and I've seen the same stuff. I've had women managers and supervisors make flirty comments to me, even touch my back or arm - which none of it ever bothered me, but if I were to do it I would be fired in a minute. A woman can do the wrong thing sexually at work or make the wrong kind of statement to you and it will still be you who gets disciplined because unless there were other witnesses, she can twist the story to management/HR however she wants and they'll have her back.

Why is like this? Because men run the systems and set things up this way because they're afraid of women and afraid of telling them that they have to behave as well. Men set up the system for women to be protected even when they're wrong so that companies don't face lawsuits. All of these methods are so deeply locked into workplace policies and even way up into the Department of Human Resources that it would be difficult to undo them without a major overhaul of conduct policies in these entities. Which is what women know and how they exploit this system.

Same they do it all the time. They Get in little groups of 3-5 and talk shit they think nobody hears them.

But I hear it all over. At the store. Out in public women are constantly talking shit about men.

The thing is they are told and actually believe that’s “okay” and justified. Like harming someone’s reputation and/or verbal harassing them is harmless.

Also you pointed out how women act in groups. VERY TRUE. They are okay when they are working alone or in pairs. But when they get in groups is when all their toxic femininity comes out. Always starts one and she rubs off on the others.

I’ve had two past jobs where it was female dominated. I will never do it again. But when the gender ratio is even there are fewer problems.

Men do not report it.

Women do report it.

Guys literally get mad at men for reporting women.

I saw it at work when i worked for home depot.

A woman grabbed a guy who was gay. He didn't like it, reported her and she got a warning that this was inappropriate behavior and if it continues she would be terminated.

She got mad and it escalated.

She was fired.

The entire male work force bullied and harrassed him.

Hmmm yea, this is another double standard but it stems from men themselves. Generally, not many men would call a woman out for being friendly/touchy/flirty while women tend to be more sensitive about it. From here, comes the expectation that benefit women but not men.

I know some cases in my home country where the men went to the police station for this, guess what? They laughed at him. They said he should just accept and take it as a compliment. I never agree to it.

It's a accepted bias. If a girl touches you what are the odds you'll think it threatening or uninviting? Maybe you won't think anything of it.

The other way around though it could easily be misconstrued as SA. It's a bias that has some reasoning historically.

It goes back to traditional gender roles in a sense where you expect that from a woman but from a man it could be a "threatening behavior"

I can't flirt because I'm a weirdo but if I could I would! When the girls do it to me they already know I am shy. It's nice that they include me in this at all.

They're sweet for giving me any attention at all and I appreciate them for it.

At least they don't just ignore me and treat me like a freak due to my shyness. That's how. it always was before but lately women have just been so much nicer. Maybe it's the younger generations. I mostly work with a wide range of ages but the younger girls are always so nice. Even to me a weird quiet guy.
