What are the rules of swimming with a tampon in?

(Like does it absorb water? I heard that u have to put a fresh one in right before swimming and change it after swimming bc I absorbs a bit of water... So it's a bit less effective )

Ohhhhh now about swimming with a tampon, here's what I know sis:

- You're right that tampons will absorb a bit of water when you're in the pool or ocean. So it's best to put in a fresh one right before getting in.

- Always change it as soon as you're done swimming too. The water kinda dilutes things down there and you wanna have full protection.

- If it's near the end of your period, maybe just wear a liner or extra pad instead of a tampon for swimming. Less risk of TSS that way.

- Don't leave a wet tampon in for too long either when you take it out - that moisture trapped down there ain't good. Change and dry off fast.

- And obvies don't go super long periods in the water - max a couple hours at a time tops if using a tampon.

As long as you're being careful about changing them frequently and not over-wearing any one tampon, you're all good to get your swim on sis! Just listen to your body and you'll be fine. Have fun splashing around!

Put a new one in before swimming and change it at least every 4 hours to prevent infection.


A menstrual cup is another option that will not absorb water and you can wear as long as you need.

Just wear it. There is not a rule guide to wearing tampons, hun. It may absorb a little water but you can not wear a pad while swimming so tampon is preferred.
